Website redesign, UK

Website redesign for UK organisations, without losing what works

A redesign should fix what is holding your site back while keeping the rankings, links and content that already work. We audit first, then rebuild on WordPress on your existing domain.

Overview

Website Redesign for organisations in the United Kingdom.

Most redesign requests start with a feeling that the site no longer reflects the organisation. Verbatim's Executive Director, Enene Ejembi, told us their site had not been updated since 2017; after the rebuild it matched the quality of their work. That is the outcome we aim for, but the route there needs care.

The biggest risk in a redesign is losing search visibility and breaking links that partners, directories and old emails still point to. We plan for that from the first week, so the new site launches on your .co.uk or .uk domain with its history intact.

In detail

Website Redesign in the United Kingdom, in detail.

01

Start with an audit, not a mood board

We begin by looking at what the current site does: which pages bring visitors from search, which forms produce enquiries, what content is out of date and what the analytics say about how people move around. We also check accessibility, speed and the plugins underneath. The audit tells us what to keep, merge or remove, so the redesign improves results rather than only appearance.

02

Protecting search rankings

Every address on the old site that has value gets a planned destination on the new one. We map old URLs to new ones, set up permanent redirects, carry over page titles and descriptions that perform, and keep structured data in place. After launch we watch Google Search Console for crawl errors and fix stray links quickly. Done properly, a redesign should hold its search position and often improve it.

03

A redesign that meets current UK rules

Older UK sites often fall behind on rules that have changed. Cookie banners may set trackers before consent, which PECR does not allow, and forms may collect more personal data than needed under UK GDPR. A redesign is the right moment to fix both, and to bring accessibility up to WCAG 2.2 AA, which public bodies must meet and every organisation benefits from.

04

Rebuilt on WordPress, on your domain

Whether your current site runs on an older WordPress theme, a page builder or a different platform, we rebuild it as a clean custom WordPress theme. The new site is developed on staging while the old one stays live, then switched over at a quiet UK time on your existing domain, with no gap in service. Your team can review every page on staging, leave comments and approve sections as they are finished, and editors are trained on the new site before it goes live.

05

What a redesign costs

Redesigns usually fall under strategy and design, from $1,500 per project, with development from $5,000 where new functionality is involved. Moving from another platform adds migration work, from $1,000. The audit lets us give you an accurate written scope before work begins. If the audit shows that only some sections need rebuilding, we price those parts alone. A redesign can also be phased, starting with the pages that bring in the most enquiries.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will we lose our Google rankings?

A careless redesign can, which is why we map every valuable old address to a new one with permanent redirects and keep titles and descriptions that work. We monitor Search Console after launch and fix issues quickly. Some movement in the first weeks is normal while search engines recrawl.

Can you redesign without rebuilding everything?

Sometimes. If the underlying WordPress build is sound, a new theme and refreshed content may be enough. The audit tells us which applies, and we will say so if a lighter approach serves you better. A lighter refresh still includes accessibility and consent checks.

Our site is not on WordPress. Can you still redesign it?

Yes. We move the content into WordPress as part of the redesign, set up redirects from old addresses and launch on the same domain. Migration work starts from $1,000 and is scoped alongside the design. Your old platform can stay live until launch.

How much does a website redesign cost in the UK?

It depends on the number of templates, the amount of content and any new features. Our redesigns start from $1,500 for strategy and design, and the audit gives you an exact written price before you commit. We explain what drives the figure so you can adjust the scope to your budget.

Will the old site stay live during the work?

Yes. We build on a private staging site and switch over only when you have approved it, at a quiet UK time, so visitors never see a half-finished site. We also keep a full backup of the old site after launch in case anything needs to be checked or recovered later.
