Domain Migration

Transferring a domain between registrars while keeping DNS, email, and the live platform intact. Every record documented before anything changes.

Overview

A domain carries far more than a website.

The domain holds the DNS records that your website, your team inboxes, your email authentication and your connected tools all depend on. Move it carelessly and enquiries stop arriving, verification records disappear, and the platform goes offline.

We document every DNS record before anything changes, coordinate the transfer between registrars, and recreate the zone so the website and email keep working through the move.

When the domain name itself is changing, for a rebrand or a merger, we map every URL from the old domain to the new one with the right redirects, so visitors and search engines follow.

Who this is for

  • Teams moving to a new domain
  • Organisations with domains spread across several registrars
  • Rebrands that change the domain name
What is included

What a domain migration covers.

  • 01

    DNS audit

Every record documented: website, email, verification and connected services.

  • 02

    Registrar transfer

The transfer coordinated end to end, including unlock and authorisation steps.

  • 03

    Email kept intact

MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records preserved so email keeps arriving.

  • 04

    Domain change redirects

When the name changes: 301 mapping, canonical tags and Search Console updates.

  • 05

    DNS cutover

DNS cutover coordination and go-live window management.

  • 06

    Post-migration testing

Website, email and connected services tested once the move is complete.

Need the email side set up properly too?

Team inboxes, SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and platform email delivery are covered by Domain & Email Infrastructure, available on its own or alongside a domain move.

Every migration we run includes a pre-migration audit, a tested rollback plan, redirect mapping, DNS cutover coordination and post-migration testing.

How we work

How a domain migration runs.

DNS changes are made in the right order, inside an agreed window, with the records to roll back to.

  1. 01

    Audit

Every DNS record and dependency documented.

  2. 02

    Plan

Transfer steps, redirects and the go-live window agreed with you.

  3. 03

    Transfer

The domain moved and the DNS zone recreated.

  4. 04

    Verify

Website, email and services tested on the live domain.

Migration follows the same discipline as every launch we run. See the full process.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will our email stop working during the transfer?

It should not. Email records are documented before anything changes and kept intact through the move, and email delivery is tested once the transfer completes.

Will we lose search rankings if our domain name changes?

We map every URL from the old domain to the new one and set up the right redirects, so search engines and visitors find every page in its new home.

Do we need a WPFlat platform for this?

No. Domain work does not need a WPFlat platform at all.
