Staff Augmentation

WordPress specialists, on your team.

When your team needs more WordPress capacity or a skill it does not have in-house, our specialists join you for as long as the work needs them. They work inside your tools and your process, and you direct the day-to-day work.

The model

How staff augmentation works.

You direct the work. Our specialists do it as part of your team.

Staff augmentation adds WPFlat WordPress specialists to your team for a period of time. They take work from your project board, commit to your repositories, talk to your team in your chat, and join your standups. Your team sets the priorities and reviews the work, the same way it would for anyone else on the team.

It suits teams that already run WordPress and need more hands on it, or need a specific skill for a stretch of work: a custom plugin, a WooCommerce build, a migration, or an accessibility review. You get people who work in WordPress every day, without having to hire for a need that may not last.

Your WPFlat specialists

  • Work inside your repositories, project boards, chat and standups
  • Follow your coding standards, branching and review process
  • Take on the WordPress work your team assigns
  • Document what they build and how it works
  • Raise technical risks early, before they reach production

Your team

  • Sets the priorities and directs the day-to-day work
  • Owns the roadmap, the product and the decisions
  • Reviews and approves the work
  • Keeps the relationship with your clients or stakeholders
  • Decides when to scale the engagement up or down

How it works

From first call to working on your team.

Every engagement starts with a conversation about the work, the skills it needs, and how your team runs.

  1. 01

    Tell us what you need

The work ahead, the skills it calls for, the tools and process your team uses, and how much time you need from us. If you are not sure yet, we help you work it out.

  2. 02

    We match specialists

We propose the WPFlat specialists whose experience fits the work, whether that is design, theme and plugin development, custom systems, commerce, or platform support. You meet them before the engagement starts.

  3. 03

They join your team and tools

Your specialists get access to your repositories, project board and chat, join your standups, and pick up work the way the rest of your team does. You direct the day-to-day work.

  4. 04

    Review and scale

We review the engagement with you each month. As your workload changes, you add specialists, reduce time, or bring the engagement to a close.

Who this is for

Teams that run on WordPress and need more of it.

Agencies, consultancies and in-house teams that need more WordPress capacity or a specialist skill for a period of time.

  • Brand and creative agencies

You lead the brand, the strategy and the creative direction. Our specialists build to the approved design inside your team, so the WordPress platform matches the work you present.

  • Digital and marketing agencies

Your focus is campaigns, channels and performance. When a client needs a WordPress platform or landing pages as part of a wider programme, our specialists add the build capacity so your team stays on the marketing.

  • Consulting and strategy firms

Your engagement includes a client portal, an internal platform or a workflow system. Our specialists work on the WordPress side within your delivery team while you stay focused on the advisory work.

  • Studios at capacity

Your team is full and new WordPress work is coming in. Our specialists join for as long as the extra work lasts, without you hiring for a peak that may not stay.

  • Companies with in-house teams

Your digital team runs WordPress alongside everything else. Our specialists add depth on the platform, from a new feature to a migration, and work to your team's standards.

  • Institutions and publishers

Your organisation runs a large or busy WordPress platform. Our specialists support your team on development, performance, accessibility and the integrations that connect it to your other systems.

How we engage

Shaped around the work you have.

Engagements run month by month, and the size of the team follows your workload.

Full focus

Dedicated specialists

A specialist who works on your team and your work only, for the length of the engagement. Best for a steady stream of WordPress work or a large build.

Shared time

Part-time specialists

A specialist who gives your team an agreed part of their time each month. Best for ongoing improvements, support, or a skill you need regularly but not every day.

Monthly

Scale up or down

Engagements are agreed monthly. Add specialists when a project ramps up, reduce time when it settles, and change the mix of skills as the work changes.

A WPFlat project manager is available to coordinate the engagement with you, plan changes to the team, and keep the quality of the work consistent. Your team still directs the day-to-day work.

  • Your repositories
  • Your project board
  • Your chat
  • Your standups

Why WPFlat

Specialists who think in WordPress every day.

WPFlat is a focused team of WordPress developers, designers and project managers. Meet the team

  • WordPress, and only WordPress

The team thinks in WordPress every day, our processes are built around it, and the judgment we bring comes from years of building on it: themes, plugins, platforms, and the integrations that connect them.

  • A team that knows the failure modes

Everyone who joins your team knows WordPress in depth, has seen the failure modes, and has the judgment to avoid them. That matters most when the work goes straight into a live platform.

  • Documented work

We document the work: what was built, how it works, and why. When an engagement ends, your team keeps a record it can own, understand and build on.

  • Support after the engagement

If your platform needs ongoing WordPress support once the engagement ends, the same team can provide it through our managed services.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How is staff augmentation different from a project with WPFlat?

In a project, we own the delivery against a written scope and run it through our process. In staff augmentation, our specialists join your team, work in your tools, and your team directs the work and sets the priorities.

Who manages our specialists day to day?

Your team does. Our specialists take work from your board, join your standups and report to whoever leads the work on your side. A WPFlat project manager is available to coordinate the engagement and keep the quality of the work consistent.

Can we change the size of the team during the engagement?

Yes. Engagements are agreed monthly, so you can add specialists, reduce time, or change the mix of skills as your workload changes. Tell us what is coming and we plan the change with you.

What do you need from us to get started?

A clear picture of the work ahead, the skills it needs, the tools and process your team uses, and roughly how much time you need from us. The easiest way to share it is an intro call or a message through our contact page.

Start a project

Tell us what you need WordPress to do.

A new website, a redesign, a client portal, a booking system, or a move from another platform. Tell us what you need and we will tell you how WordPress can carry it.
