Overview

A specialist WordPress team for Botswana.

If you have searched for web design in Botswana, you will have found a small local market, a lot of general freelancers and very few teams who work only on WordPress. That is the gap we fill. We focus on one platform and know it deeply, from the first wireframe to the plugin that has to keep working three years after launch.

We work with organisations in Botswana remotely, from our team in Nigeria. What we bring is a body of work built by our team for schools, event organisers, recruiters and online educators elsewhere in Africa, the UK and the USA, plus a clear understanding of what a Botswana site has to handle: pula pricing, card and mobile wallet payments, .co.bw domains and a new data protection law.

In detail

Built for Botswana.

01

What we do for Botswana organisations

Our work falls into four groups. Strategy and design covers discovery, new websites, redesigns, portals and landing pages. Development covers custom themes and plugins, WooCommerce stores, learning platforms and integrations with the systems you already use. Migrations move sites from other platforms, hosts or domains onto WordPress. Managed services keep everything running afterwards: hosting through our partners Cloudways and Hostinger, maintenance, security, performance, technical SEO and email. You can engage us for one of these or all of them, and the same team stays with you throughout.

02

Payments that suit Botswana buyers

Online payments in Botswana usually mean cards plus a mobile wallet. DPO Pay by Network is available to Botswana merchants for card payments, with Stanbic Bank as acquirer. Orange Money offers a web payment API to registered Orange Money merchants, and Mascom's MyZakaPay lets customers pay merchants from their phones over USSD. We design checkouts, donation forms and fee pages around the providers your organisation can actually sign up to, show prices in pula, and test the full journey on a phone before anything goes live.

03

The Data Protection Act 2024

Botswana's Data Protection Act No. 18 of 2024 replaced the earlier 2018 law and is overseen by the Information and Data Protection Commission. Two parts matter for websites. A breach must be reported to the Commission without delay and, where feasible, within 72 hours. Transfers of personal data to another country are restricted unless an exception applies. We build forms that collect only what you need, add clear consent wording, log who can see submissions, and document where data is stored so your legal adviser can confirm the position.

04

Working across a one-hour gap

Botswana runs on Central Africa Time, UTC+2, and does not change its clocks. Lagos is one hour behind, so our working day overlaps with almost all of yours. Calls happen in your morning or afternoon without anyone staying up late. We share a written plan, a staging site you can click through, and a single point of contact who answers questions directly rather than passing them between departments.

05

Pricing in US dollars, scoped in writing

Our starting prices are published: strategy and design from $1,500 per project, development from $5,000, migrations from $1,000 per migration, and managed services from $2,000 per year. Every project is scoped in writing first, so you see what is included, what is not, and what you will pay before we start. We invoice in US dollars, which many Botswana organisations already use for software and services bought from abroad.

06

Domains, hosting and email

Most Botswana companies on the national domain use .co.bw, registered through a BOCRA-accredited registrar. We help you keep that domain in your organisation's name, connect it to managed hosting, and set up business email on Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or Zoho with the authentication records that keep messages out of spam folders. If you already use a .com address, we can keep it and point the .co.bw name at the same site so both work.

Platforms we have built.

We have no Botswana project to show yet, so here is work our team built elsewhere that matches common Botswana needs: online learning with multi-currency payments, a recruitment portal, and event ticketing at scale.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you have clients in Botswana?

Not yet. Our clients so far are in Nigeria, the UK and the USA, and our team is based in Nigeria. We are open about that because we would rather you judged us on documented work and a clear written scope. Everything we show on our case studies was built by the same team that would work on your project.

Can our customers pay in pula?

Yes, where your payment provider supports it. DPO Pay handles card payments for Botswana merchants, and Orange Money offers a web payment option for registered merchants. We set prices in pula on the site and connect the provider your organisation has an account with. We help with the technical side of applications but the merchant agreement is always in your name.

How do we work with a team in Nigeria?

Mostly through video calls, a shared project board and a staging site you can review at any time. Lagos is one hour behind Gaborone, so our hours line up closely with yours. You get one named contact, written updates at agreed points, and no handover to a different team after launch.

Will our website comply with the Data Protection Act?

We build with the Act in mind: minimal data collection, clear consent, restricted access to submissions and documented storage locations. Compliance also depends on your own policies and processes, so we recommend a legal adviser confirms the overall position, particularly if personal data will be stored on servers outside Botswana.

Do you invoice in US dollars?

Yes. Our prices are set in US dollars and we invoice in dollars. If your finance team needs a pula figure for internal approval, we can show an indicative conversion on the quote, but the binding amount is the dollar figure in the written scope.

How does a project start?

With a short call to understand what you need, followed by a written scope and price. Once you approve it, we run a discovery session, agree the sitemap and design direction, then build on a staging site. You review and sign off each stage before the site goes live on your domain.
