Overview

Website Maintenance for organisations in the United Kingdom.

Most WordPress problems are maintenance problems in disguise: a plugin left out of date, a backup that never ran, a payment gateway that changed its requirements. A steady routine prevents most of them and makes the rest quick to fix.

We look after sites we built and sites we did not. When we take on an existing UK site, we start with a review of its plugins, hosting, backups and security, tell you what we found in plain language, and agree priorities before changing anything.

In detail

Website Maintenance in the United Kingdom, in detail.

01

Support during UK office hours

Our team works from Lagos, which matches British Summer Time and sits one hour ahead of GMT in winter. That means requests sent at 9am in London reach someone who is already working, and fixes happen while your staff are still at their desks. Larger updates and changes are scheduled for quiet UK periods so customers are not disrupted. Every request is logged with what changed.

02

Updates tested before they go live

We update WordPress core, themes and plugins on a staging copy first, check the pages and journeys that matter, and then apply the changes to the live site. For stores and membership sites we pay particular attention to Stripe, GoCardless and PayPal plugins, because payment providers update their requirements and an outdated gateway can quietly stop taking money. If an update causes a problem on staging, it waits until we have a fix.

03

Security and breach readiness

Maintenance includes security scanning, login protection, firewall rules and monitoring of user accounts. If something does go wrong and personal data may be affected, UK GDPR expects a report to the ICO within 72 hours where feasible when people are at risk. We give you a clear account of what happened, when, and what data was involved, so your team can make that judgement quickly.

04

Keeping consent and policies current

Compliance drifts as sites change. A new embedded video, chat widget or marketing tag can set cookies before consent, breaking PECR without anyone noticing. As part of maintenance we check what new scripts do, keep the consent setup aligned with ICO guidance, and flag when a change on the site means your privacy notice needs updating. We record each change of this kind in your monthly report.

05

What maintenance costs

Maintenance is part of our managed services, which start from $2,000 per year and can include hosting. The plan is scoped to your site's size, how often it changes and the response you need, and set out in writing. Many UK clients combine hosting, maintenance and a small amount of monthly development in one plan, which keeps budgeting simple. If your needs change, for example after launching a store, we revise the scope with you rather than adding charges unannounced.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you maintain a site another agency built?

Yes. We begin with a review so we understand the code, plugins and hosting before we take responsibility. If the review finds serious issues, we explain them and suggest whether to fix, replace or live with them, so you can decide.

How quickly do you respond?

Response times are agreed in your written scope and depend on the plan. Because our hours overlap almost entirely with the UK, most requests are picked up the same working day. Urgent issues, such as a site being down, are prioritised.

What happens if the site is hacked?

We isolate the problem, restore from a clean backup where needed, close the weakness and document what happened. If personal data might be involved, we give you the facts promptly so you can decide whether the breach must be reported to the ICO.

Do you need access to our hosting?

Yes, or we can move the site onto hosting we manage through Cloudways or Hostinger. Either way, access is limited to the people who need it, and you keep ownership of the accounts and domain. We also document the access we hold, so your records of who can reach the site stay accurate.

Is maintenance worth it for a small site?

Even a small site runs plugins that need updates and can be targeted by automated attacks. The cost of a routine is usually lower than recovering from a compromised site or a broken contact form that went unnoticed for months.
