01Built around how Zambians pay online
Many Zambian customers would rather approve a payment on their phone than type a card number. Through Flutterwave, a website can collect kwacha from MTN MoMo, Airtel Money and Zamtel wallets, with the customer confirming each payment on their handset and the site updating the order when the confirmation arrives. For buyers who prefer cards, DPO Pay operates in Zambia with local acquiring banks. We plan checkout around the mix your customers actually use, test each route with real transactions before launch, and make sure failed or abandoned payments are handled cleanly rather than leaving orders in limbo.
02Ready for the Data Protection Act 2021
Zambia's Data Protection Act No. 3 of 2021 is enforced by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, which has opened registration for organisations that control or process personal data. A website with contact forms, applications or customer accounts is part of that picture. We build forms that collect only what you need, add clear consent wording and privacy notices, restrict who can see submissions, and document where data is stored. Section 70 of the Act also favours storing personal data in Zambia, so we raise hosting location early and suggest you confirm the position with your legal adviser.
03One hour apart, the same working day
Zambia runs on Central Africa Time, UTC+2, with no daylight saving, which puts Lusaka one hour ahead of our team in Lagos. In practice a nine o'clock call in Lusaka is eight o'clock for us, and our afternoons overlap almost completely with yours. Reviews, training sessions and launch days happen live, not by email across a night. Support requests raised during your working day reach people who are awake and at their desks.
04What we have built elsewhere
Our strongest evidence comes from projects with the same moving parts many Zambian organisations need. For BFI School in the USA we built an online school that takes payments in several currencies and issues certificates. For Technext Events in Nigeria we built ticketing that sold and scanned more than 10,000 tickets with QR check-in. For ASEP Logistics we built a recruitment portal and HR dashboard. None of these are Zambian projects, and we show them so you can judge how we handle payments, scale and internal workflows.
05Domains, email and the .co.zm question
Most Zambian businesses that use the national domain register under .co.zm, while schools and charities often choose .org.zm. Registration requires a presence in Zambia, so the domain should be held in your organisation's name, not ours. We help you decide between a .co.zm address, a .com or both, connect the domain to hosting and business email, and keep a record of renewal dates so the site and mailboxes never lapse because an invoice went to an old address.
06How a project starts
Every engagement begins with a short discovery call about your goals, audience and the systems you already use. We then send a written scope covering pages, features, integrations, timeline and price, in USD with a kwacha equivalent where that helps your finance team. Strategy and design projects start from $1,500, development from $5,000, migrations from $1,000 and managed services from $2,000 a year. Nothing begins until you have agreed the scope in writing.
