Overview

A specialist WordPress team for Canada.

Plenty of firms in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver can make a website look good. Fewer treat WordPress as a specialism, and fewer still plan for the details that come with a Canadian site: a French version for Quebec visitors, accessibility that stands up to an AODA review, consent and breach duties under PIPEDA, and newsletter sign-ups that respect CASL. Those details shape how a site is built, so we deal with them from the first conversation rather than at launch.

WPFlat is a WordPress agency within Digitalzooks, founded in 2020. Our team is based in Nigeria and works with organisations across Africa, the UK and North America. We do not have an office in Canada and we do not pretend otherwise. What we offer is senior WordPress depth, written scopes, documented work you can inspect, and a working day that starts while most of Canada is still asleep, so progress is waiting for you each morning.

In detail

Built for Canada.

01

WordPress as a specialism, not a side offer

We work only in WordPress, so our time goes into knowing it well: block themes and custom themes, custom plugins, WooCommerce, membership and learning platforms, and integrations with the tools you already use. That focus matters when a site has to do more than publish pages. A Canadian member association might need gated content and renewals; a retailer might need Moneris or Stripe checkout and province-aware tax; a training company might need courses and certificates. We build these as maintainable WordPress, documented so your team or a future developer can understand it.

02

Bilingual-ready from the first template

If you sell to Quebec consumers, the Charter of the French language expects your website to be available in French with the same information as your English pages. We plan for that in the structure: a multilingual setup, translatable templates, French slugs and menus, and language switching that search engines can read. We work with you in English and build the French version from content you or your translator provide or approve. We do not write French copy ourselves, and we would rather say so than hand you text nobody has checked.

03

Accessibility and Canadian privacy built in

We build to WCAG 2.1 AA as standard. That level includes every WCAG 2.0 AA criterion that Ontario's AODA rules point to for organisations with 50 or more employees, so the theme, forms and components start from a sound base. On privacy, PIPEDA asks for meaningful consent and for breach reporting to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner where there is a real risk of significant harm. We keep data collection lean, set up consent tools properly, and, for Quebec organisations, publish the privacy officer details and keep tracking off by default as Law 25 requires.

04

Working hours that suit Canada

Lagos sits five hours ahead of Toronto in summer and six in winter, and further ahead of Calgary and Vancouver. In practice, our afternoon overlaps your morning in Eastern Time, which is when we hold calls, reviews and launches. Work done during our day is ready when you start yours. Updates and releases are scheduled for low-traffic hours on your side, and every request is logged in writing so nothing depends on catching someone live.

05

Work you can inspect

The work we show was built by the same team for clients in the USA, the UK and Nigeria, and it speaks plainly about what we do. For BFI Insights LLC in the USA we built the BFI School platform, with payments in four currencies, certificates and affiliates, and we still host and maintain it. For Technext Events in Nigeria we built ticketing that sold and scanned more than 10,000 tickets with QR check-in. For HRD2 in the UK we built a corporate site. Each shows how we handle payments, scale and long-term care.

06

Clear commercial terms

Every engagement is scoped in writing before work starts. Quotes and invoices are in US dollars, and we can give a Canadian dollar reference figure on request so you can budget internally. Payments follow agreed milestones. Domains are registered in your organisation's name, which also keeps a .ca domain with the eligible Canadian registrant, and you own the code once it is paid for. Starting prices are published: Strategy & Design from $1,500, Development from $5,000, Migrations from $1,000 and Managed Services from $2,000 per year.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Canada?

No. Our team is based in Nigeria and works remotely with organisations in Canada, the UK, the USA and across Africa. Everything is agreed in writing, calls are scheduled in your morning, and you get a shared project board so you can see progress at any time. Decisions and approvals are recorded so nothing relies on memory.

Can you build a bilingual English and French site?

Yes. We build the multilingual structure, templates, menus and language switching, and we load French content that you or your translator provide or approve. We work with you in English and do not write French copy ourselves. If you sell to Quebec consumers, we plan the French version as a full equivalent of the English pages, not a summary.

Will our site meet AODA requirements?

We build to WCAG 2.1 AA as standard, which covers the WCAG 2.0 AA criteria named in Ontario's rules. We test templates and components during the build and document what we checked. Accessibility also depends on the content you publish later, such as PDFs and video, so we train your editors. We do not issue legal certification of compliance.

Do you invoice in Canadian dollars?

Quotes and invoices are in US dollars. We can give a Canadian dollar reference figure on request for your budgeting, and payments are split into milestones agreed in the scope. Your own running costs, such as hosting, domains and payment fees, are billed by those providers in whatever currency they use.

What time are you available?

Lagos is five or six hours ahead of Eastern Time depending on the season. Our afternoon overlaps your morning in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, and the early morning in Calgary and Vancouver. We hold calls in that window and handle the rest in writing, so work moves forward while you are offline.

How does a project start?

With a short discovery call about your goals, audience, languages, content and integrations. We then send a written scope with milestones and a price in US dollars. Once it is agreed, we begin with structure and design, and you review each stage before we build the next.
