Overview

A specialist WordPress team for Zimbabwe.

Searching for web design companies in Zimbabwe tends to return directories and generalists. WPFlat is different in one narrow way: we only work in WordPress, and we have done so since 2020 as part of Digitalzooks. That focus means the people who scope your site are the same people who write its theme, wire up its payments and keep it updated afterwards.

We are a Nigeria-based team working with Zimbabwean organisations remotely. What we bring is a record of building for African organisations with the same constraints you have: mixed currencies, mobile money, patchy data costs and new data protection rules. The work we show below was built by our team for clients in Nigeria, the UK and the USA, and we explain how it maps to your project.

In detail

Built for Zimbabwe.

01

Built around how Zimbabweans pay

Any site that takes money in Zimbabwe has to cope with two realities: the US dollar is still the everyday pricing currency, and the ZiG (ZWG) circulates alongside it under a multi-currency system the government has extended to the end of 2030. We decide early which currency your site shows and charges, then connect a local gateway. Paynow brings EcoCash, Telecash, ZimSwitch, Visa and Mastercard onto one integration, and it has an official WooCommerce plugin, so we test it in your setup rather than assume it works.

02

Data protection that matches POTRAZ rules

The Cyber and Data Protection Act makes POTRAZ the Data Protection Authority, and the 2024 licensing regulations require organisations that decide how personal data is used to hold a data controller licence and appoint a data protection officer. A website is often where that data first arrives: enquiry forms, school admissions, newsletter sign-ups and customer accounts. We map every form to what it collects, add clear consent wording, keep data in places you can name on your licence application, and hand over a plain record of it all.

03

Designed for phones on mobile data

POTRAZ reporting shows mobile internet as by far the main way people in Zimbabwe get online. We design phone layouts first, compress images properly, avoid heavy sliders and scripts, and check pages on throttled connections before launch. The result is a site that loads quickly for a parent in Bulawayo checking school fees on a bundle, not only for a director on office fibre in Harare.

04

School and organisation websites

School websites in Zimbabwe are a common request, and they carry more than a brochure: term dates, fee notices, admissions forms, staff pages and sometimes online learning. We built a virtual learning environment for Alvina Schools in Nigeria and a registration platform for a Federal Ministry of Education boot camp, so we know how to structure content that parents, pupils and administrators each need. ZISPA also expects a school's .co.zw domain to be registered in the school's own name, which we help you arrange.

05

Working with a team one hour behind Harare

Harare runs on Central Africa Time, UTC+2, with no daylight saving; Lagos is one hour behind. In practice our working day overlaps almost entirely with yours, so calls, reviews and launch windows happen in normal office hours. We agree a written scope, a named lead and a shared channel at the start, and we invoice in US dollars, which most Zimbabwean businesses already budget in.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office or clients in Zimbabwe?

No. Our team is based in Nigeria and we work remotely with organisations across Africa, the UK and the USA. What we can show is comparable work, such as school platforms, multi-currency payments and portals, and a written scope that sets out exactly what you will receive.

Can my website accept EcoCash?

Yes, usually through Paynow, a Zimbabwean gateway that lists EcoCash alongside Telecash, ZimSwitch, Visa and Mastercard. You open the merchant account in your organisation's name, because the money settles to you, and we configure and test the integration on your site. We check the customer journey on a real phone so the approval prompt and the return to your site both behave as expected.

Will you invoice in US dollars or ZiG?

We invoice in US dollars. Our starting prices are set in USD and every engagement is scoped in writing before work begins. On your own website, we can display prices in US dollars, ZiG or both, depending on how your business trades and what your payment gateway supports; we agree that decision during discovery.

What do we need for a .co.zw domain?

ZISPA manages the .co.zw space and vets each application. It asks for a certificate of incorporation for companies or a national ID for individuals, and expects the real owner to be listed rather than a consultant. Schools, clubs and churches must register in the organisation's name. We prepare the technical details and work with your chosen registrar.

Does our website need to comply with the Cyber and Data Protection Act?

If your organisation decides what personal data to collect and how to use it, the 2024 regulations expect you to hold a data controller licence from POTRAZ and appoint a data protection officer. Your website is part of that picture. We document what each form and plugin collects and where it is stored, so your licence application and privacy notice are accurate. We are not lawyers, so confirm specifics with your adviser.

How does a project start?

With a short discovery call about your goals, audience, content and payments. We then send a written scope with deliverables, timeline and a fixed US dollar price. Once you approve it, we begin design, share progress at agreed checkpoints in your working hours, and finish with training and a handover pack before launch.
