Hosting Migration

Moving a live WordPress platform between hosts with no data loss and managed downtime. Audited, rehearsed in staging, and cut over inside an agreed go-live window.

Overview

Slow hosting holds a platform back. Moving it should not be the risky part.

You may be paying too much for hosting that performs poorly, or the platform may have outgrown the server it started on. The risk of something going wrong is often what keeps an organisation where it is.

We manage the full move. Everything is backed up before anything is moved, the new environment is configured for WordPress before the platform arrives, and the move is rehearsed in staging first.

DNS changes are made in the right order, inside an agreed go-live window, and the platform is tested end to end on the live domain once the move is complete. We typically move platforms to managed cloud hosting through our partners Cloudways and Hostinger.

Who this is for

  • Organisations on slow or overpriced hosting
  • Platforms that have outgrown shared hosting
  • Teams with no one managing their server
What is included

What a hosting migration covers.

  • 01

    Pre-migration audit

Content, data, user accounts, DNS dependencies, and redirect mapping.

  • 02

    New environment set up

Server, PHP version, caching and SSL configured for WordPress before the move.

  • 03

    Full backup and rollback plan

A complete backup before anything moves, and a tested way back if it is needed.

  • 04

    Verified data integrity

Full migration with data integrity checked at every stage.

  • 05

    DNS cutover

DNS cutover coordination and go-live window management.

  • 06

    Post-migration testing

Testing across the full platform, including a performance check on the new host.

Every migration we run includes a pre-migration audit, a tested rollback plan, redirect mapping, DNS cutover coordination and post-migration testing.

How we work

How a hosting migration runs.

A poorly managed move can undo years of work. We treat go-live as a technical event with a plan, a sequence, and a monitoring window.

  1. 01

    Audit

We review your setup and plan the migration.

  2. 02

    Backup

Full backup before anything is moved.

  3. 03

    Migration

We move everything to the new environment.

  4. 04

    Testing

    Everything tested before going live.

  5. 05

    Go live

DNS updated. The platform live in its new home.

Migration follows the same discipline as every launch we run. See the full process.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will our platform go offline during the migration?

We migrate in a staging environment first and coordinate the go-live window with you, so any downtime is planned and kept to a minimum.

Which host will you move us to?

We usually recommend managed cloud hosting through our partners Cloudways and Hostinger, chosen around what the platform needs. If you already have a host in mind, we plan the move around it.

What happens to our email during the move?

DNS and email records are documented before anything changes and kept intact through the move. See Domain & Email Infrastructure.

Can you look after the hosting after the move?

Yes. Managed Hosting keeps the server and the platform with one accountable team.
