Website migration, Sweden

Website migration in Sweden, planned so nothing goes missing

We move Swedish websites to WordPress from other platforms, between hosts and between registrars. Content, redirects, email and personal data are inventoried before the move and checked after it.

Overview

Website Migration for organisations in Sweden.

Organisations in Sweden move websites for familiar reasons: a site builder that has become limiting, an old CMS losing support, a webbhotell that is slow or expensive, or a wish to combine several tools into one platform. The risks are always the same: lost content, broken links, interrupted email and a dip in search visibility.

We treat migration as a discipline of its own. Migrations start from $1,000 per migration, scoped in writing so every item being moved is listed.

In detail

Website Migration in Sweden, in detail.

01

From another platform to WordPress

We migrate from website builders, older content management systems and custom platforms. Pages, posts, images, documents, users and, for shops, products, customers and order history are moved where the source system allows export. Formatting is cleaned rather than copied blindly. Swedish characters are checked throughout, because exports from older systems sometimes garble å, ä and ö, and we fix encoding before content goes live.

02

Redirects that keep your rankings

We crawl the old site, list every URL that carries traffic or links, and map each to its new address with a permanent redirect. Redirects are tested in bulk before launch to catch chains and loops. After the switch we monitor Search Console and fix errors promptly. If the old site had Swedish and English versions, both sets of URLs are mapped so neither language loses its visibility.

03

Moving hosts and .se domains

When the move includes a new host, we copy all DNS records first, build and test the site on the new server, then switch at a quiet Swedish hour. For a .se domain changing registrar, the transfer runs through accredited registrars under the Swedish Internet Foundation's rules, with the domain staying registered in your organisation's name throughout. Email records stay in place so mail keeps arriving during the change.

04

Personal data during the move

Migrations often include customer, member or applicant records, so the GDPR applies to the move itself. We transfer data over encrypted connections, keep temporary copies only as long as needed and delete them afterwards, and record where everything ends up. If the new host is outside the EU, that is flagged in the scope so your data protection lead can decide before anything moves.

05

Payments and integrations reconnected

A shop migration is not finished until customers can pay. We reconnect Stripe, Klarna or Swish Handel, test each method in test mode, and confirm that order emails and receipts work. Integrations with CRMs or accounting tools are reconnected and checked, so the new site picks up exactly where the old one stopped. Only when all of this is confirmed do we recommend cancelling the old platform.

Our work

Platforms we have built.

Verbatim and WL Construction were rebuilds of existing websites where content was carried over to WordPress, and HRD2 shows our work for a UK organisation; the same care applies to Swedish migrations.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will our site go offline during the migration?

Normally no. We build the new version on a separate server, test it fully, then switch DNS at a quiet time for Swedish visitors. The old site keeps running until the change has spread, so visitors move across without noticing.

Can you move our webshop with its order history?

Usually yes, if the current platform allows export of products, customers and orders. We check this during scoping and tell you plainly what can and cannot be moved before you commit, so there are no surprises later. Passwords usually cannot be exported, so customers may need to reset them.

How do you transfer a .se domain?

Through the registrars accredited by the Swedish Internet Foundation, with the domain staying in your organisation's name. We copy DNS records first and check the website and email before and after, so the transfer does not interrupt either. Your registrar may ask you to confirm.

Will we lose search rankings?

With a complete redirect map and preserved content, a migration should hold its position. Some short-term movement is normal while search engines recrawl. We monitor Search Console after launch, fix any issues quickly and keep the old URL list on file.

How much does a website migration cost?

Migrations start from $1,000 per migration. Size, the source platform, data such as orders or members, and whether a redesign is included shape the final price, set out in a written scope in USD, with a kronor reference figure on request.
