Overview

Ecommerce Websites for organisations in Sweden.

Selling online in Sweden comes with clear customer expectations and a growing set of rules. Shoppers expect to pay in kronor with the method they trust, to see VAT-inclusive prices, to return goods within 14 days and, since June 2025, to use a store that meets accessibility requirements. A store that misses any of these loses sales or invites complaints.

WooCommerce gives you a shop you own outright, with no platform commission added to payment fees. Our store builds sit under Development, from $5,000 per project, scoped in writing around your catalogue and integrations.

In detail

Ecommerce Websites in Sweden, in detail.

01

Checkout with Swish, Klarna and cards

Through Stripe, Swedish customers can pay with Visa or Mastercard, with Swish, or with Klarna. Swish sends mobile shoppers to the app and shows desktop shoppers a QR code, with BankID approval within three minutes, for amounts from 3 to 150,000 SEK. Klarna offers pay in full, pay in 30 days and financing up to 36 months, and pays you upfront. If you already hold a Swish Handel agreement with your bank, we can connect that instead.

02

VAT, prices and receipts

Sweden's standard VAT rate is 25%, with reduced rates of 12% and 6%, and food has been sold at 6% since April 2026. We set up tax classes per product, display prices including VAT to consumers, and make sure receipts and invoices show the breakdown your accountant expects. For stores selling to businesses as well, we can show prices excluding VAT to logged-in trade customers. The rates themselves are confirmed by you or your accountant before launch.

03

Returns and the right of withdrawal

Under the Distance Contracts Act, online customers can generally withdraw within 14 days without giving a reason, and refunds are due within 14 days of being told. We add clear withdrawal information to checkout and order emails, a returns request form tied to the order, and refund handling that works for Swish, Klarna and cards alike. Swish refunds through Stripe usually complete within minutes.

04

Accessibility Act and your store

The Act on the accessibility of certain products and services (2023:254) has covered e-commerce services since 28 June 2025, and PTS has started reviewing larger sellers' home pages, product pages and search. Micro-enterprises have exemptions, but accessible stores sell better to everyone. We build product listings, filters, cart and checkout to WCAG 2.1 AA as standard, so customers using a keyboard or screen reader can complete a purchase.

05

Selling beyond Sweden

Many Swedish brands sell across the Nordics and Europe. WooCommerce can show prices in several currencies, and through Stripe a Swedish business can present Klarna to customers in other EEA countries in their own currency. We set up shipping zones, translated product content you supply, and checkout rules that switch payment methods by customer country, so Swish only appears to Swedish customers.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can we offer Swish subscriptions?

Not through Stripe. Swish there is single-use, so it suits one-off purchases. For subscriptions we combine WooCommerce Subscriptions with cards, or with Klarna, which on Stripe supports pay later for recurring payments in Sweden. Customers can still use Swish for one-off orders in the same store.

Does Klarna work for business customers?

Klarna through Stripe does not support B2B payments. If you sell to companies, we usually offer invoice payment or card for trade accounts, and keep Klarna for consumers. The checkout can show different methods depending on whether the customer is logged in as a business.

Is WooCommerce suitable for a large Swedish store?

Yes, with the right hosting and build. Stores with large catalogues need efficient queries, caching that respects carts, and a host sized for peak periods. We plan this at scoping, and our Managed Services can keep performance and security in check after launch.

Will our store meet the Accessibility Act?

We build to WCAG 2.1 AA as standard and test the full buying journey with keyboard and screen reader. That gives you a strong technical basis. Whether your business falls under the Act, and how you word your accessibility information, is for you and your adviser to confirm.

What does an ecommerce website cost?

Store builds start from $5,000 per project under Development. Catalogue size, integrations with stock or accounting systems, and the number of languages and currencies shape the final figure, which you see in a written scope before work starts. Payments are split into agreed milestones.
