Website design, Sweden

Website design for Swedish organisations, from structure to launch

We design WordPress websites for organisations in Sweden that need to explain themselves clearly, in Swedish, English or both. Every design is built to WCAG 2.1 AA and planned around how your visitors actually decide.

Overview

Website Design for organisations in Sweden.

Good design in Sweden tends to be calm, functional and honest, and visitors notice quickly when a site is the opposite. A cluttered layout, a banner that bullies people into accepting cookies or a menu that hides the price page loses trust before anyone reads a word. We design for clarity first and decoration second.

Our design work sits under Strategy and Design, from $1,500 per project. It covers discovery, structure, visual design and the hand-off into a WordPress build your staff can update without calling a developer.

In detail

Website Design in Sweden, in detail.

01

Discovery before pixels

We start with your audience: Swedish customers, partners abroad, job seekers or members. Each group arrives with different questions, and the structure of the site should answer them in the order they ask. In a discovery workshop held by video call we map those journeys, agree the pages that matter and list the content each needs. The result is a sitemap and wireframes you approve before any visual design begins, which keeps later changes cheap.

02

Designing for two languages

Many Swedish companies sell abroad, so their sites run in Swedish and English side by side. Swedish words are often longer than their English equivalents, compound nouns break awkwardly on small screens, and buttons that fit in one language overflow in the other. We test layouts with real text in both languages, not placeholder Latin. The Swedish copy comes from your team or a translator you appoint; we make sure it has room to breathe and that switching language keeps visitors on the equivalent page.

03

Accessible by default

We design to WCAG 2.1 AA as standard: sufficient colour contrast, visible focus states, text that reflows on zoom, and components that work with a keyboard and a screen reader. In Sweden this is increasingly a legal matter. The Accessibility Act (2023:254) has covered e-commerce services since June 2025, and public bodies follow the DOS law. Our designs give you a sound basis; formal compliance statements remain your organisation's decision.

04

A cookie banner that respects visitors

Design includes the consent experience. The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority expects a refuse option in the same view as accept, equally easy to use, without colour tricks that steer people towards yes. We design banners that meet that expectation and still look like part of your brand. The difference is noticeable: visitors who feel respected stay longer, and your analytics reflect people who genuinely agreed to be counted.

05

From design to a site you can run

Approved designs become a custom WordPress theme with reusable blocks, so your editors can build new pages without breaking the layout. We document how each block is meant to be used, train your team by video call and leave you with a style guide. If you also want hosting and maintenance, we can carry the site forward under Managed Services.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you design in Swedish?

We design the layouts and work with you in English. Swedish copy is supplied by your team or a translator, and we place it in the designs early so that headings, buttons and menus are tested with real Swedish text. That avoids surprises when long compound words meet a narrow mobile screen.

How many design rounds are included?

The number of revision rounds is set in your written scope, usually at wireframe stage and again at visual design. Because structure is agreed before colours and imagery, later rounds tend to be refinements rather than rethinks. Additional rounds can be added if your organisation needs wider internal approval.

Can you work with our existing brand guidelines?

Yes. If you already have a logo, typefaces and colours, we apply them and check that colour combinations meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast. Where a brand colour fails contrast for text, we suggest an accessible variant for that use rather than changing your identity.

How do design reviews work across time zones?

There is little difference to manage. Stockholm shares our clock in winter and is one hour ahead in summer, so reviews happen in your working day. We share designs through links you can comment on, then walk through feedback on a short video call.

What does website design cost?

Strategy and Design starts from $1,500 per project. The final figure depends on the number of templates, languages and custom components. You receive a written scope with milestones and a price in USD, with a kronor reference figure on request, before any work begins.
