Website migration, Nigeria

Website migration in Nigeria without lost data, orders or rankings

Moving a website is risky when it is rushed and routine when it is planned. We migrate Nigerian sites to WordPress, to better hosting or to a new domain, with every page, order and redirect accounted for.

Overview

Website Migration for organisations in Nigeria.

Nigerian organisations come to us for migrations for different reasons. Some have outgrown a site builder that cannot take Paystack properly. Some are stuck with a host whose servers keep going down. Some are merging brands, or moving from a .com to a .com.ng. The common fear is the same: losing content, customers or search traffic in the move.

Migrations are one of our four service lines, so we follow a tested routine. The old site stays live until the new one has been checked, and nothing is switched off until you agree.

In detail

Website Migration in Nigeria, in detail.

01

From another CMS to WordPress

We move sites from Wix, Squarespace, Joomla, Drupal, Blogger and hand-built platforms into WordPress. Pages, posts, images, products, customers and categories are exported, cleaned and imported into a proper structure, not pasted in by hand. Where the old platform cannot export something cleanly, we tell you upfront and agree how to handle it. Afterwards your team edits the site in WordPress with training from us.

02

Changing host without downtime

A hosting move is mostly about timing. We copy the site to the new server on Cloudways or Hostinger, test it on a temporary address, then switch DNS at a quiet hour in your traffic. Because we work on West Africa Time, that quiet hour is planned around your customers, not ours. The old host stays active until we confirm everything is running on the new one.

03

Redirects that protect search traffic

When addresses change, every old URL needs a permanent redirect to its new equivalent, or visitors and search engines hit error pages. We build a full URL map before the move, apply redirects at launch and monitor Search Console afterwards for anything missed. For domain changes, we also use the change of address tool in Search Console so Google understands the move.

04

Stores, payments and live data

Migrating a WooCommerce store or a portal adds a complication: orders and sign-ups keep arriving while we work. We plan a short freeze window or a final sync so nothing placed during the move is lost. Paystack or Flutterwave webhooks are pointed at the new site and tested with live-mode checks after launch, so transfer and USSD payments keep confirming orders.

05

Domain and email moves

Moving a .ng or .com.ng domain between registrars, or between providers, touches email as well as the website. We document every DNS record before we change anything, keep MX and authentication records intact and confirm mail still flows after the switch. Personal data is copied securely and old copies are deleted when you approve, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

WL Construction and Verbatim both moved onto rebuilt WordPress sites delivered by our team, the kind of transition where content and redirects have to be handled with care.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will my site go offline during the migration?

For most sites there is no noticeable downtime. The new copy is built and tested while the old one stays live, and the DNS switch happens at a quiet time. For stores with constant orders, we agree a short freeze window in advance and tell your customers if needed.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if the migration is planned properly. Redirects, titles and content are preserved, and we monitor Search Console afterwards. A brief fluctuation is possible in the first weeks, but a careful move should keep the visibility you have earned, and any errors we spot are fixed quickly.

Can you move my site from a Nigerian host to Cloudways or Hostinger?

Yes. Hosting moves are routine work for us. We handle the copy, testing and DNS switch, and set up backups, caching and monitoring on the new server. If your domain or email sits with the old host, we plan those moves separately so nothing is cut off.

What happens to my email during a migration?

Website and email are separate unless your host provides both. We record your mail settings first and keep them intact during the move. If email is moving too, we plan that switch separately so no messages are lost. You get a short note confirming every record we checked.

How much does a website migration cost?

Migrations start from $1,000 per migration. Price depends on the platform you are leaving, the amount of content and data, and whether a store or portal is involved. You get a written scope with a fixed price before we start.
