Maintenance and security, Nigeria

Website maintenance that keeps Nigerian sites secure, current and taking payments

A WordPress site is never finished. We keep the core, theme and plugins updated, watch security, test payments after every change and fix problems before your customers notice them.

Overview

Website Maintenance for organisations in Nigeria.

Plenty of Nigerian websites are built well and then left alone. A year later plugins are out of date, the payment gateway has changed its API, the SSL certificate has lapsed and nobody has the admin password. Maintenance is the dull work that stops that from happening.

Our Managed Services cover maintenance and security as an annual plan, run by the same WordPress specialists who build sites. Because we are based in Nigeria, the people looking after your site are online during your business hours.

In detail

Website Maintenance in Nigeria, in detail.

01

Updates done safely

We apply WordPress core, theme and plugin updates on a schedule, testing them first where a staging copy exists. Before every round we take a backup we can restore quickly. If an update conflicts with something on your site, we roll it back and fix the cause rather than leaving a broken page live while someone investigates. You receive a note of what changed each time, so there are no mysteries when someone asks why a page looks different.

02

Keeping payment plugins working

Nigerian stores and registration sites depend on Paystack or Flutterwave plugins, and those integrations change as gateways add channels and retire older methods. After updates we run test transactions, check that webhooks still mark orders as paid and confirm that transfer and USSD options still appear at checkout. A broken checkout costs sales quietly, which is why we treat it as a priority.

03

Security and breach readiness

The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 requires a controller to notify the NDPC within 72 hours of becoming aware of a reportable breach. That is only possible if someone is watching. We monitor for malware and suspicious logins, enforce strong admin access, keep off-site backups and tell you immediately if something looks wrong, giving your data protection officer the facts they need to decide on next steps.

04

Performance and uptime

Sites slow down over time as content, plugins and images pile up. We review speed regularly, clear out unused plugins, optimise images and check that caching works. On mobile data, a page that has crept from fast to sluggish loses visitors, so we keep an eye on the numbers that matter to a phone user. Uptime monitoring runs around the clock, so an outage is spotted quickly instead of being reported by a frustrated customer.

05

Domains, certificates and email

Expired .ng domains and lapsed SSL certificates are some of the most common causes of a site going dark in Nigeria. We track renewal dates, keep DNS records documented and make sure business email on your domain keeps sending and receiving. Domain and email management is part of Managed Services, so renewals stop being a surprise. If a registrar or host needs action from you, we tell you in good time.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does website maintenance cost in Nigeria with WPFlat?

Managed Services start from $2,000 per year. The plan depends on the size of your site, whether it takes payments, how much monitoring you need and whether hosting is included. We confirm everything in a written scope so you know exactly what is covered.

Can you maintain a site you did not build?

Yes. We begin with an audit of the code, plugins, hosting and access. Some sites need a clean-up before they can be maintained safely, such as removing abandoned plugins or fixing outdated payment integrations. We tell you what we found and what we recommend before taking it on.

What happens if my site is hacked?

We isolate the problem, restore from a clean backup where possible, remove the infection and close the hole that let it in. We document what happened and what data may have been involved, so your team can decide quickly whether the NDPC needs to be notified.

Are you available during Nigerian business hours?

Yes. Our team is in Nigeria and works on West Africa Time, so we are online when your customers and staff are. How quickly we respond to different kinds of issue is set out in your plan. Urgent problems such as a site outage or a failed checkout are handled ahead of routine requests.

Do you keep my Paystack or Flutterwave integration up to date?

Yes, it is part of the work. We update the gateway plugins, run test transactions after changes and check that orders confirm automatically. If a gateway changes how a payment method works, we adjust your site accordingly. You get a note confirming the checks were done.

Will I lose access to my site if we stop working together?

No. You keep ownership of your site, domain and hosting accounts, and we hand over all access when a plan ends. We would rather you stay because the service is good than because leaving is difficult. We also give you a final backup on request.
