School websites, Nigeria

School websites for Nigerian nursery, primary and secondary schools

Parents judge a school by its website long before they visit the gate. We build WordPress school websites that answer their questions, take admissions enquiries properly and keep pupil information safe.

Overview

School Websites for organisations in Nigeria.

A Nigerian school website has more readers than most company sites: prospective parents comparing options, current families checking dates, pupils looking for resources, alumni, inspectors and staff. Each group wants something different, and the site has to serve them all without becoming a maze of notices.

Our team built the virtual learning environment Alvina Schools uses, so we know how school communities actually use a site day to day. We bring that experience to public-facing school websites, admissions systems and parent portals.

In detail

School Websites in Nigeria, in detail.

01

Admissions that convert enquiries into visits

The admissions section is where your website earns its keep. We structure it around the questions parents ask: entry points, curriculum, boarding or day options, the application steps and key dates. An online application form captures the details your admissions office needs, sends an acknowledgement automatically and lets staff track each family's progress, so enquiries stop getting lost in a shared inbox or a WhatsApp group.

02

Fees and payments in naira

Application fees, acceptance fees and term payments can be collected online through Paystack or Flutterwave, so parents can pay by card, by transfer to an account number generated for that payment, or by USSD from a basic phone. Each payment is tied to the right pupil and appears in a report for the bursar. Paystack publishes reduced card rates for educational institutions, which is worth confirming for your school.

03

Protecting children's personal data

Schools hold some of the most sensitive data any organisation does. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 that data needs a lawful basis and proper security, and a reportable breach must reach the NDPC within 72 hours. We keep pupil records out of public pages, restrict staff access by role, avoid naming children in photo captions without consent and make sure application forms collect only what admissions genuinely needs.

04

News, calendars and notices parents can find

Parents mainly come back for dates, results days, newsletters and announcements. We build a calendar that staff can update in minutes, a news section that does not bury urgent notices, and downloadable documents such as booklists and uniform guides. Pages stay light so a parent checking on a phone during the school run can find what they need without burning through their data.

05

A domain that says you are a school

Nigeria has a closed .sch.ng domain for non-tertiary schools, approved by NiRA after documents such as an authorisation letter and accreditation certificate are checked through a registrar. It signals a legitimate school clearly, though approval can take a week or more. Many schools also keep a .com.ng or .com address. We handle registration, DNS and staff email on whichever domain you choose.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can parents pay school fees through the website?

Yes. We connect Paystack or Flutterwave so parents can pay in naira by card, bank transfer or USSD. Each payment is linked to the pupil and the term, and the bursar gets a report instead of a pile of transfer receipts to reconcile.

Can you add a portal for results or assignments?

Yes. A logged-in area for pupils and parents can hold assignments, resources, timetables or reports. That is development work rather than a brochure site, so we scope it separately. Our virtual learning environment for Alvina Schools is an example.

Should our school use a .sch.ng domain?

If you are a nursery, primary or secondary school and can supply the documents NiRA asks for, .sch.ng is a clear signal of legitimacy. Approval takes longer than an open domain, so we often launch on an existing address and add .sch.ng when it is granted.

Can staff update the website without calling you?

That is the aim. We build templates for news, events and notices so staff fill in a form rather than designing a page. Training is part of the handover, and we leave short written guides for the tasks your office does every week.

How much does a school website cost?

Design-led school websites start from $1,500 under Strategy and Design. Sites with fee payments, application tracking or portals are development projects from $5,000. We confirm the scope and price in writing after talking to your admissions and bursary teams.

Can you help during the admissions season rush?

Yes. We plan hosting capacity ahead of busy windows, test application and payment forms before they open, and can stay on through Managed Services to watch the site while applications are coming in. If a form or payment fails during that window, we are working the same hours as your admissions office.
