WordPress developers, Zimbabwe

Specialist WordPress developers for Zimbabwean organisations

Finding a WordPress developer in Zimbabwe is easy; finding one who will still be there when the Paynow plugin needs updating is harder. WPFlat is a specialist WordPress team, founded in 2020, that writes, documents and supports the code it delivers.

Overview

WordPress Developers for organisations in Zimbabwe.

Organisations in Harare and Bulawayo often tell the same story. A capable individual built the website, it worked, and then they moved on or simply stopped answering. The site keeps running until a plugin conflict breaks the checkout, and nobody has the logins or understands the custom code. Hiring a team is how you avoid repeating that.

We are based in Nigeria and work remotely with clients across Africa, the UK and the USA. We offer documented projects, a clear written scope and code you own.

In detail

WordPress Developers in Zimbabwe, in detail.

01

What a team gives you that one developer cannot

Every piece of code we ship is reviewed by a second developer before it goes live. Projects are tracked in version control, so changes can be traced and reversed. Knowledge is shared across the team, which means holidays, illness or staff changes do not stall your project. And because we only work with WordPress, our developers meet the same problems repeatedly and know the reliable fixes.

02

Custom themes and plugins

We build themes from your approved design without heavy page builders, which keeps pages light for visitors on mobile data, by far the largest way Zimbabweans get online according to POTRAZ figures. Where your process needs something specific, such as a quotation request tool, an agent portal or a membership renewal system, we write a focused plugin instead of combining several generic ones.

03

WooCommerce on Paynow

Stripe does not accept Zimbabwean businesses, so stores here commonly run on Paynow, which brings EcoCash, Telecash, ZimSwitch, Visa and Mastercard into one integration and publishes an official WooCommerce plugin. That plugin is where we start, extending it only where your checkout needs more. We install and configure it, decide with you whether prices show in US dollars, ZiG or both, and test each payment method on real devices before launch.

04

Code that respects your POTRAZ licence

Under the Cyber and Data Protection Act, organisations controlling personal data need a licence from POTRAZ, renewed every 12 months, and a data protection officer. Developers can help or hinder that. We collect only the fields you need, keep a written list of what each plugin stores, and give your data protection officer the details the licence application asks for, including where data is held.

05

Support from a team one hour behind Harare

Harare is one hour ahead of our team, so a call at 9am your time is 8am ours, and the afternoon overlaps completely. After launch, our Managed Services, from $2,000 per year, keep WordPress, WooCommerce and Paynow up to date, with each update tested on a staging copy before it touches your live site. If something does go wrong, the people who fix it already know your code.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it more expensive to hire a team than a freelancer?

Sometimes at the start, often not over the life of the site. Our development projects start from $5,000 and design projects from $1,500, each scoped in writing. Cheaper builds that cannot be maintained tend to cost more later, when someone else has to rebuild them.

Do you meet clients in Harare?

We do not have an office in Zimbabwe, and we do not claim one. Our team works remotely from Nigeria, with video calls, shared staging sites and written updates. Because Harare is just one hour ahead of Lagos, meetings fit comfortably into both working days.

Can you fix a WordPress site someone else built?

Yes. We begin with an audit covering the theme, plugins, custom code, hosting and security, and send you a written summary with a plan. We will need administrator, hosting and domain access, so if a previous developer still holds those, recovering them is the first step.

Do you work with Paynow and EcoCash?

Yes. Paynow is the usual route for EcoCash, Telecash, ZimSwitch and card payments on WordPress in Zimbabwe, and it has an official WooCommerce plugin. Your business opens the merchant account in its own name; we connect it to the site and test every payment method.

How do we pay for your services?

We invoice in US dollars against milestones set out in the written scope. Zimbabwe introduced withholding on certain payments to foreign digital service providers from 1 January 2026, so your finance team may want to check how that applies before the first invoice is settled.

Who owns the code?

You do, once the project is paid. Everything lives in your hosting account and your repository, with documentation explaining how the custom parts work. If you ever move to another developer, they can pick it up without starting again from scratch.
