01What really drives the price
Four things move a website budget more than anything else. The first is the number of distinct page templates, not the number of pages. The second is content: whether you supply finished text and photos or need help producing them. The third is functionality, such as payments, bookings, logins or learning tools. The fourth is integration with other systems, for example connecting orders to stock or applications to an HR process. Design polish matters too, but it is rarely the biggest variable.
02Brochure, school and organisation websites
A company profile or school website usually has a home page, about, services or academics, news, contact and a handful of supporting pages. Effort goes into structure, clear writing, phone-friendly design and easy editing. School sites tend to add fee notices, calendars and admissions forms. These projects sit in our Strategy and Design service, which starts from $1,500, with the final price depending on templates, content support and forms.
03Online stores and payment sites
Taking money online in Zimbabwe adds real work. A WooCommerce store needs a gateway such as Paynow to accept EcoCash, ZimSwitch and cards, a decision on how US dollar and ZiG prices are shown, checkout screens for mobile money approval, delivery rules and careful testing. That is why stores usually fall under our Development service, which starts from $5,000. A small catalogue with one gateway costs less to build than a large one with several integrations.
04Portals, learning platforms and custom systems
Recruitment portals, member areas, e-learning and internal dashboards involve user roles, workflows, notifications and reports, plus careful handling of personal data. Under the Cyber and Data Protection Act and SI 155 of 2024, these systems usually sit inside your POTRAZ data controller licence, so security and data mapping are part of the build. These start from our Development price of $5,000 and are scoped individually.
05Running costs to budget for in Zimbabwe
After launch, plan for several recurring costs. A .co.zw domain is renewed annually through a ZISPA registrar. Hosting is billed monthly or yearly, and foreign cloud services may now have tax withheld at payment. Paynow charges transaction fees, so check its current rate sheet. Domain email, maintenance, and your annual POTRAZ licence renewal complete the picture. Ask any provider to list these separately from the build price.
06How to get an accurate quote
Write down what the site must do, who it is for, which payments it takes and what content you already have. Share examples you like and any deadlines. Then ask each provider for a written scope listing pages, features, integrations, running costs and what happens after launch. With us, that starts with a discovery call and ends with a fixed US dollar price in writing before any work begins.
