Web development, Zimbabwe

WordPress web development for Zimbabwean organisations

When a brochure site is not enough, we build custom WordPress themes, plugins, portals and integrations. Development projects start from $5,000 and are scoped in writing.

Overview

Web Development for organisations in Zimbabwe.

Web development companies in Zimbabwe are asked to solve practical problems: taking applications online, letting customers pay by mobile money, giving staff a dashboard instead of a spreadsheet. We approach these as WordPress builds, because it gives you an editable, widely supported platform rather than a one-off codebase only its author understands.

Everything we develop is documented and handed over. You own the code, the hosting account and the payment merchant accounts.

In detail

Web Development in Zimbabwe, in detail.

01

Portals, dashboards and custom workflows

Recruitment portals, membership areas, application forms with approval steps and staff dashboards are where WordPress development pays off. For ASEP Logistics in Nigeria we built a recruitment portal and HR dashboard; for a Federal Ministry of Education boot camp we built a registration system with PLANE-FCDO. Zimbabwean organisations running bursary applications, supplier registration or member renewals face the same pattern of forms, roles, statuses and reports.

02

Payment integrations that suit Zimbabwe

Stripe does not support businesses registered in Zimbabwe, so we build on local rails. Paynow is the usual route: one integration for EcoCash, Telecash, ZimSwitch, Visa and Mastercard, with an official WooCommerce plugin and an API for custom flows. We handle the payment callback, record each transaction against the right order or application, and decide with you how USD and ZiG amounts are stored and reported.

03

Learning and membership platforms

Schools, training providers and professional bodies in Zimbabwe increasingly want courses, certificates and paid membership online. We built BFI School for BFI Insights in the USA, an online school taking payments in four currencies with certificates and affiliates, and a virtual learning environment for Alvina Schools. The same building blocks can serve a Harare college or a Bulawayo training centre.

04

Personal data handled to POTRAZ standards

Custom systems usually store more personal data than a simple website: ID numbers, CVs, pupil records, payment references. The Cyber and Data Protection Act and SI 155 of 2024 require a data controller licence and a data protection officer for most organisations doing this. We design role-based access, limit what is stored, log administrative actions and document where data lives, which supports your licence application and annual renewal.

05

Code you can keep

We write custom themes and plugins to WordPress coding standards, keep them in version control and document the setup. If you later bring development in-house or move to another provider, the handover is straightforward because nothing depends on knowledge held only in our heads. Our own plugins, such as emailfooter for email signatures and the Bizy operations suite, are built and maintained the same way.

Our work

Platforms we have built.

These builds by our Nigeria team are closest to the portals and learning platforms Zimbabwean organisations ask for: an HR portal, a multi-currency online school and a school learning environment.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you integrate EcoCash directly?

In most projects we integrate EcoCash through Paynow, which connects EcoCash, Telecash, ZimSwitch and card payments in one place. That keeps reconciliation simple. If your organisation already has a direct arrangement with a provider, we review its documentation during discovery and confirm what is feasible before it goes into the scope.

Why WordPress rather than a fully custom system?

WordPress gives you a familiar editor, a large pool of developers and a mature security process, while still allowing custom plugins for your specific workflow. That lowers your long-term risk: if we are not available, another competent developer can maintain it. For most portals and platforms we build, it is the more sustainable option.

How do you handle the time difference?

There is very little to handle. Zimbabwe is on UTC+2 and Lagos on UTC+1, so we are one hour behind you all year. We schedule sprint reviews and testing sessions within your office hours and keep a written log of decisions in a shared channel.

Who owns the code and accounts?

You do. Hosting, domain, payment merchant accounts and the code repository are set up in your organisation's name or transferred to you at handover. We keep access only for as long as you want us to support the system, and we remove our accounts when you ask, leaving you with full control.

What does a development project cost?

Development projects start from $5,000. The scope depends on the number of user types, workflows, integrations and reports. We price each project in US dollars after discovery and put deliverables, timeline and payment milestones in writing, so you know exactly what you are approving before any development starts.

Will our system need a POTRAZ licence?

If your organisation determines what personal data is collected and how it is used, the 2024 regulations generally require a data controller licence. The system we build is part of that processing. We document data flows and storage locations to support your application, but confirm your exact position with POTRAZ or a legal adviser.
