Overview

Website Maintenance for organisations in Zimbabwe.

Most websites in Zimbabwe are not broken by dramatic attacks. They decay: a plugin falls out of date, a payment callback stops firing, a contact form quietly fails and nobody notices for weeks.

Our maintenance service is designed to catch those problems early and to keep a written record of what was done, which also helps when POTRAZ asks how you look after personal data.

In detail

Website Maintenance in Zimbabwe, in detail.

01

Keeping payment plugins current

If your site takes EcoCash, ZimSwitch or card payments through Paynow, the gateway plugin is the most important code on it. We update it in a staging copy first, run a test payment, check that orders change status correctly and only then apply the update live. Community reports show plugins behaving differently between WooCommerce's classic and block checkouts, so we check both paths whenever WooCommerce itself updates.

02

Housekeeping for your data controller licence

POTRAZ licences under SI 155 of 2024 run for 12 months and must be renewed. Each renewal is a good moment to confirm what your website collects. We review forms, plugins and stored submissions, delete what is no longer needed, check that admin accounts belong to current staff and give you a short written summary to support your renewal, listing each form, what it collects and where it is kept.

03

Security and backups

We apply WordPress core, theme and plugin updates on a regular schedule, monitor uptime, scan for malware and keep off-site backups with a tested restore process. Admin users get strong authentication and the fewest permissions their role needs. If something does go wrong, the backups and a change log let us restore quickly and explain what happened. Where a site has been compromised, we clean it, close the hole that let the attacker in and tell you whether any personal data may have been exposed, so you can decide on notifying POTRAZ.

04

Support in your working hours

Zimbabwe is on Central Africa Time, one hour ahead of Lagos, so our support hours overlap with your normal working day. Requests go into a shared channel with a named contact. Small content changes, broken links and form issues are handled within the plan; larger changes are quoted separately in writing first. Each month you receive a short report of updates applied, issues found and anything we recommend, written for a manager rather than a developer.

Our work

Platforms we have built.

We maintain sites with live payments and large user bases, including the BFI School platform and the Technext Events ticketing system, which is the experience we bring to Zimbabwean sites.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you maintain a site another developer built?

Yes. We start with an audit of the theme, plugins, hosting and payment setup, list any risks and agree a fix-up plan. Once the site is stable we move it onto our regular maintenance schedule. If the audit finds serious problems, we explain the options and costs before doing anything.

How do you avoid breaking our EcoCash checkout during updates?

We never update payment plugins directly on the live site. Updates are applied on a staging copy, tested with a real transaction where your gateway allows it, and then deployed. We keep the previous version ready to roll back if anything behaves unexpectedly.

Does maintenance cover our POTRAZ obligations?

It supports them but does not replace them. Your organisation holds the data controller licence and appoints the data protection officer. We help by reviewing what your website collects and stores, tightening access and giving you a written summary each year that you can use for your renewal.

What hours do you support?

Our team works in West Africa Time, one hour behind Harare, so our day overlaps almost entirely with Zimbabwean office hours. Urgent issues such as a site outage or failed checkout are prioritised. Response arrangements, including how to reach us for an urgent problem outside normal hours, are written into your plan so there is no doubt about what to expect.

How is maintenance billed?

Managed Services start from $2,000 per year and are billed in US dollars. The plan is scoped in writing, listing what is included and how extra work is quoted, so you know your annual budget in advance. Hosting through our partners can be included in the same plan.
