WordPress developers for Tanzania, as a team rather than one person

If you are looking for a WordPress developer in Tanzania, consider hiring a specialist team instead. We write custom themes and plugins, build WooCommerce shops and support them afterwards, two hours behind Dar es Salaam.

Overview

WordPress Developers for organisations in Tanzania.

A good freelance developer can build a solid site. The risk comes later: illness, a new full-time job or a move abroad, and suddenly nobody knows how your payment integration was put together. A team keeps the knowledge in shared documentation and more than one head.

WPFlat works only in WordPress. That focus means our developers know the platform's internals, its security practices and its quirks with local payment plugins, rather than switching between tools from one client to the next.

In detail

WordPress Developers in Tanzania, in detail.

01

Freelancer or specialist team

A freelancer is often cheaper per hour and fine for small jobs. A team costs more but brings code review, a project manager who answers when the developer is heads down, and cover for holidays. For a site that takes money through Pesapal or AzamPay, or holds pupil or member records, that continuity is worth paying for. We document every custom function so even a future freelancer could take over cleanly.

02

Custom themes and plugins

We build themes from your design, with editing blocks that match your layouts so staff cannot accidentally break a page. When a feature does not exist as a reliable plugin, we write one: a fee calculator, a bilingual glossary, a member directory, an approvals workflow. Custom code follows WordPress coding standards and is kept in version control, and you own it.

03

WooCommerce with Tanzanian gateways

WooCommerce in Tanzania means working with local aggregators. Stripe and Paystack do not serve the country, so we configure Pesapal's official plugin, AzamPay's phone-prompt gateway or a custom connection to Flutterwave or Selcom where a plugin falls short. We test each wallet in sandbox and then with a small live payment before launch. Payment callbacks are logged, so if an order ever looks wrong we can trace exactly what the gateway reported.

04

Developers who think about data

WordPress sites gather more personal data than most owners realise: form entries, orders, user accounts, analytics. Under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 that data comes with duties, including registration with the Commission. Our developers configure forms to store only what is needed, remove stale entries on a schedule and restrict admin roles, which makes your compliance work easier. We also switch off plugins that quietly collect visitor data without a clear purpose.

How hiring us works

You can engage us for a defined project, from $5,000 for development, or on a Managed Services plan from $2,000 per year that includes developer time each month. Either way you get a written scope, a shared task board, and calls scheduled in the overlap between East Africa Time and our day in Lagos. You can start with a small, defined piece of work to see how we operate before committing to anything larger.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can we hire a WordPress developer by the hour?

We work on scoped projects or Managed Services plans rather than open hourly billing. Plans include an agreed amount of developer time each month, which suits ongoing small changes. Larger pieces of work are scoped and priced in writing first.

Do you work with sites built by other developers?

Yes. We begin with a code and plugin audit, explain what we find in plain terms and recommend whether to fix, extend or rebuild. Many Tanzanian sites we are asked about simply need outdated payment plugins replaced and a clean-up.

Can your developers work in our time zone?

Our team in Lagos is two hours behind East Africa Time, so your working day and ours overlap for most hours. We schedule calls in that window and keep a shared board so you can see progress whenever you check.

Will we depend on you forever?

No. You own the code, hosting and domain accounts, and we document what we build. If you later hire an in-house developer in Dar es Salaam or Arusha, we can hand over properly. Handover includes access details, documentation and a walkthrough call with whoever takes over.

Do you build plugins for sale or only for our site?

Mainly for clients' own sites, though we also maintain our own products, the emailfooter signature plugin and the Bizy operations suite. If you plan to distribute a plugin, we discuss licensing and support at scoping. Those products give our team daily experience of maintaining code that many different sites depend on.
