Website redesign in Tanzania without losing what already works

A redesign should fix what holds your site back while keeping the search visibility and links you have built up. We audit first, then rebuild on your existing domain.

Overview

Website Redesign for organisations in Tanzania.

Organisations usually ask for a redesign when the site looks dated, staff struggle to update it, or it no longer reflects what they do. Those are good reasons, but a careless rebuild can wipe out years of search traffic overnight.

Our approach is to understand the current site in detail before we draw anything new: which pages bring visitors, which links others point to, which forms people actually use.

In detail

Website Redesign in Tanzania, in detail.

01

Starting with an audit

We crawl your current site, list every page and its address, and pull search data from Google Search Console if you have it. We note which pages earn traffic and links, which are outdated, and which duplicate each other. The result is a content map that shows what to keep, merge, rewrite or retire, agreed with you before design begins.

02

Protecting search rankings

Every old address that changes gets a permanent redirect to its closest new equivalent. We keep page titles and headings that already rank, carry over structured data and update the sitemap. After launch we watch Search Console for errors and fix any missed redirects quickly. The aim is for visitors and search engines to land somewhere useful, never on a dead page.

03

Adding Kiswahili properly this time

Many Tanzanian sites added a second language as an afterthought, with half-translated pages and mixed menus. A redesign is the right moment to fix that. We set up matched Kiswahili and English structures, proper language tags so search engines show the right version, and a switch visitors can find. Your team or translator supplies the copy; we make it sit cleanly.

04

Cleaning up data you no longer need

Older sites often hold years of form submissions, abandoned user accounts and plugins that log visitor details nobody reads. Under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 that stored data carries responsibility. During a redesign we identify it, help you decide what to keep, export or delete, and set retention rules on the new forms. Old plugins that stored data are removed cleanly rather than simply switched off.

05

Rebuilding on your existing domain

Your .tz or .co.tz address stays the same. We build the new site on a staging copy, test it thoroughly, then switch over at a quiet time with a rollback plan. Email and DNS records are checked beforehand so nothing else breaks during the move. We stay on hand for the first days after launch to deal with anything that only shows up under real traffic, and we keep the old site archived in case content needs recovering.

Our redesigns for Verbatim and WL Construction show how we rebuild a dated corporate site into one that is clearer to read and easier to manage.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will a redesign hurt our Google rankings?

A poorly planned one can. We protect rankings by mapping every old address to a new one with permanent redirects, keeping content that already performs and monitoring Search Console after launch. Some short-term movement is normal, but the structure is designed to hold or improve your position.

Can you redesign a site that is not on WordPress?

Yes. Moving to WordPress at the same time is common. That combines a redesign with a content migration, so we scope both together and make sure pages, images and redirects come across. Moving platform is also a good moment to retire old content that no longer serves visitors.

Do we keep our domain and email?

Yes. The redesign happens on a staging copy and goes live on your existing domain. We check DNS and email records before the switch so mail keeps flowing. If your email is currently hosted on the same server as the old site, we plan its move separately so mailboxes stay intact.

How much does a website redesign cost?

Redesigns fall under Strategy and Design, from $1,500 per project, and move into Development, from $5,000, if new features such as payments or portals are added. We confirm the price after the audit in a written scope. The audit itself is part of the project, so you see what we found before the design stage begins.

How long does a redesign take?

It depends on the size of the site and how much content changes. The audit takes the first part of the project, then design, build and testing. We give you a timeline with review points in the scope. Prompt feedback and content from your side keep that timeline on track.
