Website design in Tanzania, planned for phones and two languages

We design WordPress websites for Tanzanian organisations that want a site people can read on a handset, in the language they prefer. Design projects start from $1,500 and are scoped in writing.

Overview

Website Design for organisations in Tanzania.

Most visitors to a Tanzanian website arrive on a phone, often on a data bundle, and many would rather read Kiswahili than English. Good design starts there, not with a desktop mock-up shrunk to fit.

Our design work begins with discovery: who visits, what they need to do and what your team can keep up to date. Only then do we draw layouts, choose type and colour, and decide which pages earn a place in the menu.

In detail

Website Design in Tanzania, in detail.

01

Designing for the screen people actually use

TCRA figures for June 2026 show mobile broadband accounting for almost 60 per cent of internet subscriptions in Tanzania. We design the phone layout first: thumb-friendly buttons, short forms, readable type without zooming and a clear route to the one action that matters on each page. Images are sized and compressed for the device, so a visitor on a modest bundle can browse without burning through it.

02

A layout that holds two languages

Kiswahili text often runs longer than its English equivalent, and menus that look neat in one language can wrap awkwardly in the other. We test every template with real copy in both, set a language switch where visitors expect it, and keep page structures matched so your team can update one version and know exactly where the change belongs in the other.

03

Forms and consent from the first sketch

Contact, enquiry and application forms collect personal data, which brings them under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022. We design them to ask only for what you need, explain why in plain words, and keep marketing consent separate from the enquiry itself. Cookie and tracking choices are shown clearly rather than hidden. It is easier to get this right at design stage than to retrofit it later.

04

From discovery to sign-off

A design project moves through four stages: discovery and site map, wireframes of the key pages, visual design, and a built WordPress theme you can edit. You review and approve at each stage over video calls timed for East Africa Time, which sits two hours ahead of our team in Lagos. Nothing moves forward until you are happy with what is on the screen.

05

Who our design work suits

Tanzanian companies refreshing a dated profile site, NGOs and associations needing clear donation and reporting pages, schools that want parents to find fees and term dates quickly, and tourism or hospitality businesses that sell to visitors abroad as well as at home. If your site also needs payments or bookings, we scope that with our development team in the same plan.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does website design take for a Tanzanian business?

A focused company site usually takes several weeks from discovery to launch, depending mostly on how quickly content and approvals arrive. Bilingual sites take longer because both versions need writing and checking. We put a timeline with review points in the written scope so you can plan around it.

Can you design in Kiswahili?

We design layouts that work for Kiswahili and English and test them with real text in both. The Kiswahili copy itself is ideally written or approved by your team or a translator you trust, because tone and terminology matter. We then build and check both versions.

Will we be able to update the site ourselves?

Yes. We build a WordPress theme with editing blocks that match your design, so your staff can add news, change text and swap images without breaking the layout. We record a walkthrough at handover so new staff can learn it later.

Do you design for tourism and hospitality businesses?

Yes. Those sites often serve visitors from abroad as well as Tanzanian customers, so we pay attention to clear enquiry routes, fast image galleries and showing prices in the currencies your guests use. Booking or payment features are scoped with our development team.

What does website design cost?

Our Strategy and Design service starts from $1,500 per project. The final price depends on the number of page types, languages and any features beyond standard pages. You receive a written scope with a fixed price before any work begins.
