Website maintenance for Tanzanian WordPress sites

A WordPress site keeps working only if someone keeps it current. We look after Tanzanian websites through our Managed Services, which start from $2,000 per year.

Overview

Website Maintenance for organisations in Tanzania.

Many sites in Tanzania were built well and then left alone. A year later the plugins are out of date, a payment gateway has changed its API and nobody is sure when the last backup ran.

Our maintenance work is the routine that prevents that: updates tested before they go live, backups you can restore, security monitoring, and a named person to call when something looks wrong.

In detail

Website Maintenance in Tanzania, in detail.

01

Keeping payment plugins current

Tanzanian payment integrations change. Tigo Pesa became Mixx by Yas in November 2024, and gateway plugins such as AzamPay's have added wallets in later releases. The AzamPay listing on WordPress.org has even carried a warning that it had not been tested with recent WordPress versions. We watch the plugins your checkout relies on, test updates on a staging copy, and run a real test payment after every change before your customers do.

02

Updates without surprises

WordPress core, themes and plugins release fixes all the time, some of them for security. We apply them on a schedule, test on staging first and keep a rollback point. If an update would break something, we hold it back, fix the conflict and tell you what happened in plain language. Major WordPress releases get extra attention, because they are the ones most likely to affect older plugins and custom code.

03

Security and the duty to report breaches

Under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022, a data controller must notify the Personal Data Protection Commission promptly of a breach. You cannot report what you never notice. We run malware scanning, login protection, file change monitoring and uptime checks, and we keep logs that show what happened and when. If something does go wrong, you get the facts quickly to decide your next steps with your adviser.

04

Backups stored and tested

We take scheduled backups of files and database, keep several restore points and test restores, because an untested backup is only a hope. We also note where backups are stored. The Act restricts sending personal data outside Tanzania without safeguards, so backup locations belong in the records you keep for the Commission. Restores are rehearsed on staging, so the first time we run one is never during a real emergency.

05

Support across time zones

Our team in Lagos works two hours behind East Africa Time, so your mornings overlap with ours from the start of our day. Routine requests go through a shared ticket board, and urgent issues reach a named contact. Each month you receive a short report on updates, backups, security events and uptime. Larger pieces of work are quoted separately, so a monthly plan never hides surprise charges.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you maintain a site another agency built?

Yes. We start with an audit of the code, plugins, hosting and backups, then tell you what needs fixing before we can maintain it safely. Some sites need a short clean-up first, which we quote separately. The audit report is yours to keep whether or not you go on to choose our plan.

What if our mobile money checkout stops working?

We treat it as urgent. We check the gateway status, the plugin, recent updates and the callback logs, then fix or roll back. If the problem sits with the gateway itself, we contact their support with the technical details on your behalf.

How quickly do you respond?

Response times are set in your Managed Services agreement. Because we work in overlapping hours with East Africa Time, most requests raised during your working day are seen during ours. Urgent issues have a separate route to a named contact.

Does maintenance include content changes?

Our plans include an agreed amount of developer time each month for small changes such as new pages, form tweaks or layout fixes. Larger additions are quoted separately so you always know the cost first. Unused hours do not quietly turn into extra charges, and you see what was done in the monthly report.

How much does maintenance cost?

Managed Services start from $2,000 per year. The level depends on the size of the site, how often it changes and whether it handles payments or logins. We scope it in writing after reviewing the site. Sites with a mobile money checkout or member logins need more frequent testing, which the plan reflects.
