Website migration for US organisations, with nothing left behind

We move American websites to WordPress, to better hosting or to a new domain, with a plan for every page, file, user and order. Redirects, testing and a rollback route are part of every migration.

Overview

Website Migration for organisations in the United States.

Migrations go wrong in predictable ways: images that do not come across, forms that stop sending, customers who cannot log in, and old URLs that return errors so search traffic falls away. None of this is inevitable. It happens when a migration is treated as copying files rather than moving a working system.

We plan each migration as a project with an inventory, a mapping, a test plan and a cutover. That applies whether you are leaving another CMS for WordPress, consolidating several sites, moving to a faster host or changing your domain.

In detail

Website Migration in the United States, in detail.

01

From other platforms to WordPress

US organisations come to us from hosted site builders, older CMSs, custom-built sites and other ecommerce platforms. We export content, media, users and, for stores, products, customers and order history where the source platform allows it, then map it into WordPress structures. Content that does not fit is cleaned up rather than forced in. Where a SaaS tool is doing a job WordPress can now handle, such as forms or courses, we can consolidate it to reduce subscriptions.

02

Redirects that protect your search traffic

Every URL on the old site gets a decision: keep it, redirect it to its new equivalent, or retire it deliberately. We crawl the old site before migration, build a full redirect map, and test it after launch. Titles, descriptions, structured data and internal links are carried over. When the domain changes, we use the change of address process in search tools and monitor crawl errors closely in the weeks after cutover.

03

Domains, hosting and DNS without downtime

For hosting moves, we copy the site to the new server, test it on a temporary address, lower DNS time-to-live in advance, and switch when traffic is lowest. Our working morning falls overnight across the United States, which suits cutovers well. If you are adopting a .us domain, we check you meet the registry's nexus requirements first. Email records are moved carefully so mail keeps flowing during the change.

04

Keeping data and compliance intact

A migration is a good time to look at what personal data you hold and why. We move only what you need, keep access restricted during the transfer, and remove copies from temporary locations afterwards. Consent records, privacy settings and opt-out links are rebuilt on the new site so CCPA-style choices still work. We also check accessibility on the migrated templates, so the new site does not reintroduce barriers the old one had fixed.

05

Cost and how we start

Migrations start from $1,000, priced in US dollars and scoped in writing after we inventory the current site. Larger moves, such as stores with order history or several sites being consolidated, are scoped individually. If the migration is part of a redesign or rebuild, it is planned within that project rather than quoted twice. The inventory itself is a useful document, because it shows exactly what your current site contains.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will we lose search rankings when we migrate?

A careful migration should protect them. We map every old URL, set permanent redirects, carry over metadata and monitor search data after cutover. Some short-term movement is normal, especially with a domain change, but planned migrations avoid lasting losses.

Can you migrate our online store with its orders?

Usually, yes. Products, customers and order history can be moved where the source platform allows export. Saved payment methods normally stay with the payment gateway and are handled separately, which we explain before the move. Customer passwords may need resetting depending on the source platform, and we plan the customer email for that.

How do you avoid downtime?

We build and test the new site in parallel, lower DNS settings ahead of time and switch during low-traffic hours. Our working morning falls overnight across the US, which makes those cutover windows easy to staff. A rollback route stays ready until the new site is confirmed stable.

Can we switch to a .us domain?

Yes, if you meet the nexus requirements, such as being a US organisation or a foreign entity with a bona fide presence in the US. We usually recommend keeping your existing domain redirecting to the new one. Search tools then need the change of address process, which we handle.

What does a website migration cost?

Migrations start from $1,000, priced in US dollars. The final figure depends on the platform, the volume of content and data, and integrations, and it is confirmed in a written scope after an inventory of your current site. Migrations within a redesign are priced inside that project.
