Ecommerce websites for US sellers on WooCommerce

We build WooCommerce stores for American brands that want to own their platform rather than rent one. Checkout, sales tax and accessibility are planned for the US market from the outset.

Overview

Ecommerce Websites for organisations in the United States.

Launching an ecommerce website in the USA means competing with marketplaces that have trained shoppers to expect a fast, familiar checkout. Buyers want to pay with a card, a wallet or PayPal in a few taps, see shipping costs before the last step, and trust that returns will be simple. A store that misses any of these loses sales at the point it worked hardest to earn them.

WooCommerce gives you a store you control, on your own domain, with no platform taking a share of each sale beyond your payment fees. We design and build those stores, connect the gateways and fulfilment tools you need, and hand over a dashboard your team can run.

In detail

Ecommerce Websites in the United States, in detail.

01

Checkout options US shoppers expect

We usually combine two gateways. Stripe or WooPayments covers cards and wallets such as Apple Pay, and both handle subscriptions. PayPal Checkout adds PayPal balances, Venmo, which is available only in the US, and Pay Later options where the merchant is paid up front. For high-value or B2B orders, Stripe's ACH Direct Debit lets customers pay from a US bank account, though settlement can take up to four business days, so we adjust order statuses to match.

02

Sales tax across states

Since South Dakota v. Wayfair in 2018, states can require online sellers to collect sales tax even without a physical presence, once they pass that state's thresholds. Which states apply to you is a question for your accountant. Our job is to make WooCommerce match their answer: tax settings or a tax service, correct product tax classes, prices shown and receipts issued properly. We set this up so that adding a new state later is configuration, not development.

03

Accessible product pages and checkout

An online store is a public-facing service, and the Department of Justice's ADA guidance covers what businesses offer on the web. We build product galleries, filters, variation pickers and checkout forms that work with a keyboard and screen readers, with proper labels, error messages and contrast, aiming at WCAG 2.1 AA. Accessible checkouts also convert better for everyone, because they are clearer.

04

Privacy and marketing on a US store

Stores often run pixels and remarketing tags, which can count as sharing personal information under the CCPA. We set up consent and opt-out controls so tags respect visitor choices and Global Privacy Control signals where required, and we add the privacy links your counsel asks for. Order and abandoned-cart emails are separated from marketing emails, which must carry a postal address and an opt-out under CAN-SPAM.

05

Building and launching your store

We plan the catalogue structure, shipping zones and gateways in discovery, then design and build the store on staging. Test orders cover every gateway, refunds and failure cases before launch. If you are moving from another platform, we bring products, customers and orders across with redirects. WooCommerce builds are development projects starting from $5,000, scoped in writing and priced in US dollars.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why WooCommerce instead of a hosted store builder?

WooCommerce runs on your own WordPress site, so you own the data, the design and the code, and there is no platform share on each sale beyond your gateway fees. It suits stores that need custom features or strong content alongside products. Hosted builders can suit very simple stores; we will say if that is a better fit.

Can customers pay with Venmo?

Yes, through PayPal Checkout, which offers Venmo to US shoppers alongside PayPal balances, Pay Later and cards. We usually pair it with Stripe or WooPayments for direct card and Apple Pay payments, so customers see the options they recognise. We test each option on phones and desktops before launch.

Will you set up sales tax for every state?

We configure WooCommerce to collect tax wherever your accountant says you must, and we can connect a tax calculation service if you need one. We do not decide your tax obligations, but we make sure the store applies them correctly and that new states can be added easily.

How much does an ecommerce website cost in the USA with you?

WooCommerce stores are development projects starting from $5,000, priced in US dollars. Catalogue size, integrations, migration and custom features move the final figure, which we confirm in a written scope. Budget separately for hosting, gateway fees and any paid extensions.

Can you migrate our existing store?

Yes. We move products, customers and order history where the source platform allows it, map old URLs to new ones with redirects, and test before switching over. Migrations start from $1,000 when they are a separate piece of work, or they form part of a larger build.
