Overview

Web Hosting for organisations in Ghana.

Cheap hosting is easy to find. The cost shows up later as slow pages on mobile data, an expired certificate, or nobody to call when the site goes down during a campaign. Managed hosting means someone is responsible for all of that.

Hosting is part of our managed services, which start from $2,000 per year and include maintenance and security. We are open about what the hosting partner provides and what we add on top.

In detail

Web Hosting in Ghana, in detail.

01

Choosing a location for Ghanaian visitors

Speed for a Ghanaian audience depends on how far the server is from your visitors and how heavy your pages are. We choose the hosting region our partners offer that gives the quickest response times to Ghana in testing, then add caching and a content delivery network so images and files are served from closer to your users. We also slim down pages, because on mobile data a lighter page often matters more than the server's location.

02

Your .com.gh domain and email

Ghanaian organisations often register under .com.gh, with schools on .edu.gh, managed by the Ghana Network Information Center. We do not take ownership of your domain: it stays in your organisation's name with an accredited registrar. We point it at your hosting, add SSL, and set up business email with the records that stop your messages landing in spam. If you also hold a .com, we redirect it so visitors arrive at one address.

03

Where your data lives, for Act 843

Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), data controllers and processors must register with the Data Protection Commission, and your registration needs to describe how you handle personal data. Hosting is part of that picture. We give you a written note of which partner hosts the site, in which region, where backups are kept, and who has access, so you can describe it accurately to the Commission and answer questions from partners or auditors.

04

What managed hosting includes

Beyond the server itself, we handle daily backups stored separately from the site, SSL renewal, uptime monitoring, security hardening and performance tuning. When something goes wrong, we deal with the hosting partner on your behalf. Because Ghana is one hour behind Lagos, an outage during your working day is also during ours. You receive a monthly summary of uptime, backups and updates.

05

Moving from your current host

If your site is already hosted elsewhere in Ghana or abroad, we migrate it with a staging check first, then switch DNS at a quiet time agreed with you. Migrations start from $1,000 per migration when handled as a separate project. Email moves are planned carefully so nobody loses messages during the switch. Afterwards we check every page, form and payment on the new host.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are your servers located in Ghana?

No. We host through Cloudways and Hostinger and choose the region that tests fastest for Ghanaian visitors, then use caching and a content delivery network to bring files closer to your users. If your organisation has a policy that requires local hosting, tell us early and we will discuss the options openly.

What is the website hosting price in Ghana with you?

Hosting is included in our managed services, which start from $2,000 per year and also cover maintenance and security. The final figure depends on traffic, storage and the level of support you need, and we set it out in a written quote. Domain registration on .com.gh is paid to your registrar separately.

Can you register our .com.gh domain for us?

We guide you through it, but the domain should be registered in your organisation's own name through an accredited .gh registrar. Reported rules require a Ghana-registered company and a local administrator, which your organisation can provide more easily than we can. Once registered, we handle all the technical set-up.

Do you provide business email on our domain?

Yes. Domain and email set-up is part of our managed services. We configure email on your domain with the authentication records that help messages reach inboxes, and we can move existing mailboxes across from your current provider without losing old messages.

What happens if the site goes down?

Monitoring alerts us when the site stops responding. We investigate, work with the hosting partner if the fault is on their side, and restore from backup if needed. You get a short written explanation afterwards of what happened and what we changed.
