School websites for Ghana

School websites for basic schools, SHS and private schools in Ghana

We design WordPress websites for Ghanaian schools that help parents choose, apply and pay, and help staff keep everyone informed. Pupil information is kept private and handled the way the law expects.

Overview

School Websites for organisations in Ghana.

Parents in Ghana now look a school up online before they ask friends or visit. They want to know the curriculum, the facilities, the admission steps, the fees and who to call. Current families come back for term dates, events and notices. Staff need a site they can update between lessons without calling a developer.

Our team built the virtual learning environment Alvina Schools uses, and the BFI School online platform. We bring that experience to Ghanaian schools working remotely from Nigeria, one hour ahead of Accra.

In detail

School Websites in Ghana, in detail.

01

Admissions online, not on paper

A clear admissions section answers the questions parents ask at the gate: which classes or forms have places, what the entry process involves, which documents are needed and the key dates. An online application form then captures each family's details, sends an automatic acknowledgement and gives your admissions office a list they can sort, filter and update as applications move from enquiry to offer. Nothing gets lost in a notebook.

02

Fees by mobile money and card

Most Ghanaian parents would rather pay from their phone than queue at a bank. Through Paystack or Flutterwave, parents can pay application or term fees in cedis with MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money or a card, approving the payment on their handset. Each payment links to the right pupil. Paystack does not support recurring charges on mobile money, so termly fees are set up as separate payment requests rather than automatic subscriptions.

03

Pupil data and the Data Protection Commission

Schools hold sensitive information about children and families. Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) requires data controllers to register with the Data Protection Commission, and your school's registration should cover what the website collects. We keep pupil records out of public pages, restrict staff access by role, ask for photo consent before children appear online and keep application forms limited to what admissions needs.

04

A .edu.gh address and staff email

Ghana's domain structure includes .edu.gh for educational institutions alongside .com.gh for businesses, both under the Ghana Network Information Center. We help you choose and register the right domain in the school's name, point it at the new site and set up staff email on it. Renewal dates are recorded, because an expired domain takes the website and staff inboxes down together.

05

News, calendars and notices for families

Parents mainly return for practical information. We build a term calendar staff can update in minutes, a news section for events and achievements, and a downloads area for prospectuses, booklists and policies. Urgent notices can be pinned to the homepage. Every page is designed for a parent checking quickly on a phone, so it loads fast even on a weak mobile data signal.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can parents pay school fees on the website with MoMo?

Yes. Through Paystack or Flutterwave, parents can pay in cedis with MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash or AirtelTigo Money, or by card. They approve each payment on their phone, and the payment is linked to the right pupil so the bursar can reconcile without a pile of screenshots.

Does our school need to register with the Data Protection Commission?

The Commission states that all data controllers and processors must register, and a school collecting pupil and parent data through its website falls within that. We are not lawyers, so confirm your position with the Commission or an adviser. We will document what the site collects to help your registration.

Can you add a portal for pupils or e-learning?

Yes. A logged-in area for lessons, assignments or results is a development project scoped separately from the public website. Our virtual learning environment for Alvina Schools is an example of the kind of platform we can build, with lessons and resources available to pupils from home.

Can our teachers update the website themselves?

That is the point of how we build it. News, events and notices use simple templates, so staff complete a form rather than designing a page. Training is part of handover, and we leave short guides for the tasks your school office does every week.

How much does a school website in Ghana cost?

School websites focused on design and content start from $1,500 under Strategy and Design. Sites with online fee payments, application tracking or a portal are development projects starting from $5,000. We confirm the scope and price in writing after speaking with your head and bursar.
