Maintenance and security, Uganda

Website maintenance for Ugandan WordPress sites, done before something breaks

A WordPress site left alone for a year collects outdated plugins, failed backups and security holes. We keep Ugandan sites updated, secure and taking payments, under a plan agreed in writing.

Overview

Website Maintenance for organisations in Uganda.

Maintenance is easy to postpone until the day the site is hacked, the mobile money checkout stops confirming orders or the domain lapses. For a school in the middle of admissions or a shop in the December rush, that day is expensive.

Our managed services start from $2,000 per year and cover the routine work that keeps a site healthy, plus a named route to our team when something urgent happens.

In detail

Website Maintenance in Uganda, in detail.

01

Keeping payment plugins working

Gateway plugins for MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money depend on WooCommerce, WordPress and the provider's own API, and any of the three can change. We apply updates on a staging copy first, run a test transaction through Flutterwave or Pesapal sandbox, and only then update the live site. If a provider announces API changes, we plan the work before it disrupts your checkout.

02

Security monitoring and breach readiness

Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 expects organisations to report a data security breach to the Personal Data Protection Office immediately, along with the remedial action taken. That is only possible if someone notices. We monitor for malware, failed logins and file changes, keep a firewall in place and hold off-site backups. If an incident happens, we contain it, restore a clean copy and give you a written account to support your report.

03

Domain and DNS care for .ug sites

A lapsed .co.ug domain takes your website and email offline together. We track renewal dates, keep DNS records documented, and coordinate with your registrar. Because .ug registrations expect working name servers, we also make sure any hosting or DNS change is prepared before records are switched. We also keep SPF, DKIM and DMARC records in order so email from your domain continues to reach inboxes, and we record every DNS change in your plan's log so there is always a clear history if something needs to be traced.

04

Support hours that suit Kampala

We work on West Africa Time and you are on East Africa Time, two hours ahead. Our working day covers most of yours, so routine requests are handled the same day and urgent issues follow the response route agreed in your plan. Every task is logged, and you receive a monthly summary of updates, backups and fixes. Nothing is changed without a record.

05

Housekeeping that protects personal data

Old form submissions, inactive user accounts and forgotten plugin logs pile up quietly. As part of maintenance we review who has admin access, remove accounts no longer needed and check that form data is not being kept longer than your privacy notice says. We also confirm that security certificates renew on time and that forms still send to the right addresses. These checks take little time each month, yet they are often what an organisation is asked about after a complaint or when updating its registration with the Personal Data Protection Office.

Our work

Platforms we have built.

Our team built the ASEP Logistics recruitment portal and the Technext Events ticketing platform, systems where downtime would be felt immediately, so we plan maintenance with that in mind.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you maintain a site another company built?

Yes. We start with an audit of the theme, plugins, hosting and backups, then tell you plainly what needs fixing before we take it on. Some sites need a clean-up first; others can move straight onto a plan. The audit findings are yours to keep either way.

What happens if our site is hacked?

We isolate the problem, restore from a clean backup, close the hole that let the attacker in and change credentials. We then write up what happened and what data may have been affected, which you will need if you have to notify the Personal Data Protection Office under the Data Protection and Privacy Act.

How quickly do you respond?

Response times are set in your plan and written into the agreement. Because Kampala is only two hours ahead of Lagos, our working hours overlap closely with yours, which makes same-day handling of routine requests normal. You can reach us by email or the support channel set up for your plan.

Do you invoice maintenance in shillings?

Our plans are priced and invoiced in US dollars, from $2,000 per year, which keeps costs predictable. We can show an indicative shilling figure for your budgeting, and the scope of each plan is agreed in writing before we start.

Does maintenance include content changes?

Small edits can be included, depending on the plan. Larger work such as new pages, features or redesigns is quoted separately so your maintenance budget stays focused on keeping the site secure and working. Any extra work is quoted before it starts.
