Overview

Web Application Development for organisations in Uganda.

Uganda's NGOs, SACCOs, associations and growing companies tend to hit the same wall: applications arrive by email, approvals happen on WhatsApp and reporting means someone spending Friday afternoon in Excel. Data gets lost and nobody can see the full picture.

A web application replaces that with one system: structured forms, clear statuses, roles that control access and dashboards that are always current. We build on WordPress so user accounts, security and administration are proven, and your budget goes into your own rules.

In detail

Web Application Development in Uganda, in detail.

01

How our development process works

We start by mapping the process with the people who run it: what comes in, who decides, what happens next and what has to be reported. That becomes a written specification with screens and roles. We then build in short phases on a staging site you can use, so feedback comes from working software rather than diagrams, and changes stay cheap to make.

02

Portals for applicants, members and partners

External users need a simple experience: register, submit, upload documents, track status. We build those portals with clear steps, saved progress and email notifications at each stage. Our team built this pattern for ASEP Logistics, a recruitment portal with an HR dashboard, and for the Federal Ministry of Education boot camp registration in Nigeria with PLANE-FCDO, where attendees received automated updates.

03

Mobile money inside the process

Ugandan workflows often include a payment: a membership renewal, an application fee, a booking deposit. We attach MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money collection through Flutterwave or Pesapal to the right step, so the record advances only when the gateway confirms payment. Every callback is logged with its reference, which makes reconciliation simple for your finance team at month end.

04

Dashboards that replace the Friday spreadsheet

Managers get screens that show the numbers they ask for: submissions by status, payments received, overdue reviews, activity by district or branch. Filters and CSV exports keep accountants and donors happy. For Technext Events our team built ticketing that sold and scanned over 10,000 tickets with QR check-in, showing that WordPress handles real volume when it is built and hosted carefully.

05

Personal data, registration and breach readiness

Applications concentrate personal data, and some of it, such as financial information or health status, is treated as a special category under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. We restrict each role to what it needs, enforce two-step sign-in for staff, log sensitive actions and plan backups. That helps when describing your processing to the Personal Data Protection Office or reporting a breach immediately.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why build a web application on WordPress?

It gives you a mature user system, admin area, security model and a large pool of developers, including many in Uganda who could maintain it later. We add custom code for your workflow. Where WordPress is the wrong fit, for example heavy real-time processing, we say so during scoping.

Can the system work for staff in different districts?

Yes. It runs in a browser, so staff in Kampala, Jinja or Gulu use the same system on a laptop or phone. We test key screens on mobile and keep them light, since field staff often work over slower connections.

How much does custom software development cost?

Custom builds start from $5,000 per project in US dollars. Roles, workflow steps, integrations and reporting drive the final figure, which we set out in a written scope. An indicative shilling figure can be added for budgeting or donor reporting.

Can we start with one process and add more later?

Yes, and we recommend it. A first release covering one workflow gets value to your team quickly and shows what the next phase should be. We plan the data structure so new processes fit in later without rebuilding what already works.

Who owns the application?

You do. Code is delivered to your repository and hosting account with documentation. You can keep us for support under Managed Services from $2,000 per year, or pass it to your own developers, who will find everything they need written down.
