Website maintenance for Kenyan WordPress sites, and what it costs

A website that takes payments or collects personal data needs regular care, not just a fix when it breaks. Our Managed Services start from $2,000 per year and cover updates, security, backups and performance.

Overview

Website Maintenance for organisations in Kenya.

Most of the cost of a neglected site is hidden until something fails: a payment plugin that stops confirming M-Pesa orders, a form that leaks submissions, or a hacked homepage that loses search rankings. Maintenance is the work that stops those days from happening.

We look after WordPress sites built by us or by others. For a site we did not build, we start with an audit so the plan reflects what is actually installed.

In detail

Website Maintenance in Kenya, in detail.

01

What drives the cost of maintenance

The price of a maintenance plan in Kenya, as anywhere, follows the risk and the workload. A five-page site with a contact form needs less than a WooCommerce shop processing M-Pesa orders every hour. Number of plugins, custom code, traffic, how often content changes and how quickly you need a response all shape the figure. We price each plan in writing after the audit, starting from $2,000 per year.

02

Keeping payment integrations current

Gateways and Safaricom's Daraja API change over time: new versions, retired endpoints, updated security requirements. A plugin that worked at launch can quietly fail a year later, leaving orders unpaid in your dashboard while customers have been charged. We update payment plugins on a staging copy first, run a test transaction, and watch callback logs so mismatches between M-Pesa and your orders are caught early.

03

Staying on the right side of the Data Protection Act

Compliance with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 is not a one-off. Forms change, new plugins arrive with their own tracking, and old submissions pile up. We review what data the site stores, remove what is no longer needed, keep consent wording in place and maintain security logs. If something does go wrong, the 72-hour notification window to the Data Commissioner means you need facts fast, and our logs provide them.

04

Support hours that suit Nairobi

Kenya keeps East Africa Time, UTC+3, without daylight saving, and our team works on Lagos time, two hours behind. The overlap covers most of the Kenyan working day, so routine requests are handled while your office is open. Your agreement sets out how to reach us, which issues count as urgent and how quickly we respond to each, so nobody has to guess on a bad day.

05

Performance and search, not just patches

Maintenance is also where a site gets steadily better. We watch page speed on mobile connections, tidy the database, retire plugins you no longer need and fix broken links. Our Managed Services also cover SEO and AI search work, so content keeps matching how Kenyans search, whether that is for a service in Nairobi or a course they can pay for by M-Pesa. Small monthly improvements add up.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does website maintenance cost in Kenya?

Prices across the Kenyan market vary widely because plans cover very different work. Ours starts from $2,000 per year for Managed Services, and the exact figure depends on your site's size, plugins, payment setup and response needs. We confirm it in writing after an audit.

Can you maintain a site another developer built?

Yes. We begin with an audit of the code, plugins, hosting and security, fix anything urgent, and then move the site onto a regular maintenance routine. If parts of the site are risky to keep, we explain why and what replacing them would involve.

What happens if our M-Pesa payments stop working?

We treat a broken checkout as urgent. We check the gateway or Daraja callback logs, roll back any recent update if it caused the fault, and confirm with a test payment. Orders paid during the outage are then reconciled against your M-Pesa or gateway statements.

Do you help if we have a data breach?

We contain the technical problem, restore a clean copy, and give you a written account of what happened and which data may be affected. Under the Data Protection Act the controller, which is you, must notify the Data Commissioner within 72 hours, and our report helps you do that accurately.

Is hosting included?

It can be. Our Managed Services include managed hosting through our partners Cloudways and Hostinger, along with maintenance, security and performance work. If you prefer to keep your current host, we can maintain the site there, provided we have the access needed for backups and monitoring.
