Web development, Rwanda

WordPress development for Rwandan organisations with real workflows

We build custom WordPress systems for organisations that need more than pages: portals, registrations, learning platforms and integrations. Development projects start from $5,000 and every one is scoped in writing.

Overview

Web Development for organisations in Rwanda.

Many Rwandan organisations outgrow a brochure site quickly. A training provider needs enrolment and certificates, an NGO needs applications reviewed by a panel, a business needs orders flowing into its accounts. We build those workflows inside WordPress, so your team manages them from one familiar dashboard.

We write custom themes and plugins rather than stacking dozens of add-ons, and we document what we build so another developer could pick it up later.

In detail

Web Development in Rwanda, in detail.

01

Payment integrations that fit Rwanda

Development work in Rwanda usually means connecting to local payment rails. MTN Rwanda offers a Collections API where the customer approves a payment request on their phone, and gateways such as IremboPay and Flutterwave bring MTN MoMo, Airtel Money and cards together. We build the integration, handle the confirmation callback so orders or registrations update automatically, and test the failure cases: a declined prompt, a timeout, a customer who closes the page too early.

02

Portals and dashboards with data handled carefully

Recruitment portals, member areas and application systems all hold personal data, and Law No. 058/2021 applies to every record. We design user roles so staff only see what they need, keep audit trails of who changed what, and plan where the database is hosted in light of the law's default that personal data is stored in Rwanda. When you register with the NCSA, you will have a clear description of what the system collects and why.

03

Custom plugins instead of fragile stacks

Off-the-shelf plugins solve common problems, but a long chain of them becomes slow and risky to update. Where your workflow is specific, we write a focused plugin that does exactly that job. It is easier to maintain, easier to secure and faster for visitors on mobile data. We maintain our own plugins too, including emailfooter and the Bizy operations suite, so this is work we do every week.

04

Working across the one-hour gap

Development projects run in short stages with a working demo at the end of each. With Kigali one hour ahead of our team, we hold stage reviews in your morning or early afternoon and fix issues the same day. You get access to a staging site from the first week, so your team can test with real data before anything goes live.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you integrate the MTN MoMo API directly?

Yes, where it suits the project. MTN Rwanda's developer portal provides a Collections API and a checkout widget, and going live requires the merchant to pass MTN's KYC approval. For many projects a gateway such as IremboPay is simpler, because it combines MTN MoMo, Airtel Money and cards in one integration. We help you weigh the two.

Who owns the code you write?

You do, once the project is paid. The code lives in your hosting account and repository, and we hand over documentation and admin access at launch. If you later move to another developer, they have everything they need to continue.

How do you handle hosting given Rwanda's data storage rule?

Law No. 058/2021 says personal data should be stored in Rwanda unless the NCSA authorises storage abroad. We discuss this at scoping and plan hosting with you, either a Rwandan provider or an authorised arrangement. We do not give legal advice, so for borderline cases we recommend confirming with the NCSA or a local adviser.

Can you build a learning platform for a Rwandan school or training provider?

Yes. We build learning and membership platforms with courses, quizzes, progress tracking and certificates, and we can connect fees to mobile money. Our work for Alvina Schools and BFI Insights covers much of what Rwandan schools ask for. Parents and students can also receive enrolment confirmations by email.

How long does a development project take?

It depends on scope, which is why every project starts with a written plan that sets out stages and dates. We would rather give you a realistic timeline in writing than a quick estimate on a call. Once the scope is approved, we track progress against those dates at every stage review.

How do we pay you?

We invoice in US dollars against the milestones in your written scope. If your finance team needs a different arrangement, tell us during scoping and we will agree it in writing before work begins. Milestones are set out in the scope, so you always know what each payment covers.
