Hire WordPress developers for your Zambian website

When your site needs real development work, a specialist team is a safer bet than one freelancer. We write custom themes and plugins, extend WooCommerce for kwacha payments and support the code long after launch.

Overview

WordPress Developers for organisations in Zambia.

Zambian organisations often reach us after a familiar experience: a developer built the site, then became hard to reach, and now a plugin update has broken a form or the checkout no longer confirms mobile money payments. Nobody else knows how the custom parts work.

WPFlat is a WordPress-only team based in Nigeria, one hour behind Lusaka. Since 2020 we have built on WordPress for organisations in Africa, the UK and the USA, and we work with Zambian clients remotely.

In detail

WordPress Developers in Zambia, in detail.

01

Why a team beats a lone developer

A single developer can be excellent, but your site then depends on their availability, memory and health. Our developers work from a shared repository, review each other's code and document what they build, so more than one person can step in on any day. For a Zambian organisation without in-house technical staff, that continuity matters: when something breaks during a busy week, you are not waiting for one person to return.

02

Custom themes and plugins

We build block and classic themes that your staff can edit safely, and we write plugins when a requirement is too specific for anything off the shelf. Recent examples of the kind of work we do include application forms with staged approvals, directory listings with custom search and staff dashboards. We also maintain our own products, the free emailfooter signature plugin and the Bizy suite of operations plugins, so long-term upkeep is part of how we think.

03

WooCommerce and mobile money code

Development in Zambia frequently means payments. Flutterwave lets a site collect kwacha from MTN, Airtel and Zamtel wallets, with the result arriving by webhook after the customer approves the prompt on their phone. That callback is where fragile code fails. We write and test the handling for success, failure and timeout, log every event for reconciliation, and keep card payments through a gateway such as DPO Pay working alongside it.

04

Code that respects the Data Protection Act

Under Zambia's Data Protection Act 2021, your organisation must register with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner if it controls or processes personal data, and section 70 sets a default that such data is stored in Zambia. Developers influence both. We keep custom forms to the fields you need, store uploads outside public folders, restrict admin roles and document where every table and backup lives, so your adviser has facts to work with.

05

Ways to engage us

You can hire us for a defined build, such as a plugin or theme rebuild, which is development work from $5,000 per project. Or you can keep us on through Managed Services from $2,000 a year for updates, security and small changes, with a growth retainer for new features. Both are scoped in writing and invoiced in USD, with a kwacha equivalent shown where that helps your approvals.

These builds, all by our Nigeria team, show the development depth Zambian clients hire us for: a recruitment portal with an HR dashboard, a boot camp registration system and a multi-currency online school.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Should we hire a freelancer or an agency for WordPress work?

For a small one-off change, a reliable freelancer can be fine. For a site that takes payments, applications or member logins, a team is usually safer, because knowledge is shared, code is reviewed and someone is available when something fails. We are happy to explain which suits your situation.

Can you fix a site another developer left unfinished?

Yes. We begin with an audit of the code, plugins, hosting and admin users, then tell you what can be kept, what needs fixing and what it will cost. Some unfinished sites can be completed; others are quicker to rebuild. We give you the reasoning either way.

Can you integrate MTN MoMo and Airtel Money into our site?

Yes, through Flutterwave, which collects kwacha from MTN, Airtel and Zamtel mobile money for Zambian merchants. You hold the merchant account in your organisation's name. We build the checkout flow, handle the payment confirmations and test each network before launch.

What hours do your developers work?

Our team works Nigerian business hours. Lusaka is on Central Africa Time, one hour ahead of Lagos, so our developers are online for nearly all of your working day. Calls, code reviews and releases happen in real time rather than overnight.

Do we own the code?

Yes. Once the project is paid, the custom themes and plugins belong to your organisation, together with the repository and the documentation. Any competent WordPress developer can work on them later, and if you ask, we will brief that developer on how everything fits together.
