Overview

WordPress Developers for organisations in Botswana.

Botswana's pool of WordPress specialists is small, and many organisations rely on a single freelancer who built the site years ago. That works until the person moves on, falls ill or takes a full-time job, at which point nobody knows how the site fits together.

We offer an alternative: a specialist WordPress agency, part of Digitalzooks and working since 2020, with written scopes, documented code and published starting prices. Development work starts from $5,000 per project.

In detail

WordPress Developers in Botswana, in detail.

01

Why a team rather than a freelancer

A good freelancer can do excellent work. The risk is continuity. With us, more than one person knows your site, code lives in version control, and decisions are written down. Holidays and illness do not stop progress. You also get design, development and hosting skills under one agreement, rather than coordinating three separate suppliers yourself. When you call, you speak to someone who can see the history of every change, not a person reconstructing it from memory.

02

Custom themes and plugins done properly

We build themes and plugins to WordPress coding standards, so another competent developer could pick them up later. Custom functionality, such as an application workflow or a members' directory, goes into a plugin rather than being tangled into the theme. That separation means you can redesign later without rebuilding the features your organisation relies on. We avoid stacking dozens of third-party plugins to imitate a feature, which slows sites and multiplies update risk.

03

WooCommerce with Botswana gateways

Many WordPress developer requests in Botswana involve taking payments. Stripe does not currently list Botswana for business accounts, so we work with what is available locally: DPO Pay by Network for cards, with Stanbic Bank as acquirer, and Orange Money's web payment API for registered merchants. We integrate these with WooCommerce or custom forms and test every outcome, including declined and abandoned payments.

04

Support after the build

Developers who disappear after launch leave sites exposed. Our managed services, from $2,000 a year, keep the same team responsible for updates, security and fixes. Because Gaborone is one hour ahead of Lagos, our working hours cover almost all of yours, and requests reach people who already know your setup. If you prefer to bring maintenance in-house, we hand over documentation and access so your own staff or another developer can carry on.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can we hire a developer by the hour?

We work on scoped projects and annual managed service plans rather than open hourly contracts. Scoping keeps costs predictable for you and lets us plan properly. For small ongoing changes, a managed services plan is usually the better fit. Larger additions get their own short scope.

Can you take over a site built by a freelancer?

Yes. We audit the code, plugins and hosting first, then tell you in writing what is sound and what needs attention. Sometimes a site is fine and just needs care; sometimes parts need rebuilding. You decide once you have the facts.

Do you work with page builders?

We can maintain sites built with popular page builders. For new builds we usually prefer native WordPress blocks, which tend to load faster and are easier for editors, but we discuss the options with you. If your team is attached to a builder, we can keep it and tidy up how it is used.

Where is your team based?

In Nigeria. We work remotely with clients in Africa, the UK and the USA, using video calls, a shared project board and staging sites. We do not have an office in Botswana. Lagos is one hour behind Gaborone, so our day lines up closely with yours.

What do you need from us to start?

A short call about what the site must do, access to any existing site or hosting, and a contact person who can make decisions. We then send a written scope and price for approval. If you have examples of sites you like, or a list of current frustrations, share those too.
