Web applications for Botswana

Web application development for Botswana organisations

We build portals, workflows and dashboards on WordPress, the kind of custom system that replaces spreadsheets, paper forms and email chains. Users log in, do their work and see only what they should.

Overview

Web Application Development for organisations in Botswana.

Many Botswana organisations run important processes on spreadsheets passed around by email: applications, approvals, bookings, stock and staff records. A web application puts that work in one place, with clear steps, permissions and a record of who did what.

We build these systems on WordPress, which gives you a familiar admin area and a large ecosystem, with custom code where your process needs it. Custom systems sit in development, from $5,000 per project, scoped in writing.

In detail

Web Application Development in Botswana, in detail.

01

Portals for clients, members and staff

A portal gives each type of user a private space: clients track requests, members renew and download documents, staff manage tasks. We design around roles, deciding exactly what each one can see and change. Our team built a recruitment portal and HR dashboard for ASEP Logistics, where candidates, recruiters and managers each needed different views. Every role was tested with real users before launch.

02

Workflows that replace paperwork

We map your current process, step by step, before writing code. Then we build it as a workflow: a form starts it, the right person is notified, approvals move it forward and every action is logged. Where a step needs payment, such as an application fee, we connect DPO Pay or Orange Money for registered merchants so the workflow continues only once payment is confirmed.

03

Dashboards for decision makers

Managers need numbers, not raw records. We build dashboards that summarise what matters, such as open applications, payments received in pula or tickets scanned, and allow exports for reporting. Data comes straight from the system, so nobody has to compile figures by hand. Charts and tables are tailored to each role, so a branch manager sees their branch while head office sees everything. Filters by date range make monthly reports a matter of a few clicks.

04

Data protection by design

Custom systems often hold sensitive personal data. The Data Protection Act No. 18 of 2024 requires appropriate security, breach reporting to the Information and Data Protection Commission and, for high-risk processing, a data protection impact assessment. We build with role-based access, audit logs and minimal data collection, and document where the system's data is stored, since transfers outside Botswana need an exception.

05

Delivery in stages

We deliver in stages, each tested on a staging site against agreed criteria. You use the first version early and shape what comes next. Our hours overlap almost entirely with Botswana's, one hour ahead of Lagos, which keeps feedback quick. Early use often reveals steps nobody mentioned in planning, and staged delivery lets us include them without derailing the budget. Each stage ends with a short handover note describing what was built and how to use it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why build on WordPress instead of from scratch?

WordPress provides user management, security updates and an admin interface out of the box, so the budget goes on your specific process. If your needs genuinely suit a different platform, we tell you during scoping. We also ensure custom code is documented for future developers.

Can the system connect to our accounting software?

Often, yes, if the software offers an API or import format. We check what it supports during scoping and plan the integration accordingly. Where no API exists, scheduled exports in a format your accountant can import are often a practical alternative. We test the connection with real sample data before relying on it.

Who can see the data in the system?

Only the roles you approve. We define permissions during design and test them before launch. Audit logs show who viewed or changed records, which helps if you ever need to explain how data was handled. Permissions can be adjusted as your team changes.

Do we need a data protection impact assessment?

If the system involves high-risk processing, such as sensitive personal data, the 2024 Act may require one. Your organisation is responsible for it, but we supply technical details about storage, access and security to support the assessment. Doing it early avoids redesigning features later.

Can we start small?

Yes, and we recommend it. A first stage covering the core process lets your team use the system and tell us what to improve before more is built. Later stages are scoped separately once you have seen the first one working, so you never pay for features nobody uses.
