Website redesign in Botswana

Website redesign for Botswana organisations

A redesign should fix what is not working without throwing away what is. We start with an audit, keep the search visibility you have earned, and rebuild on your existing domain.

Overview

Website Redesign for organisations in Botswana.

Many sites in Botswana were built when most visitors used a desktop and nobody expected to pay online. They still rank for useful searches and hold years of content, but they load slowly on phones, are hard to edit and may collect data in ways that no longer suit the law.

Redesigns start from $1,500 under our strategy and design service, rising into development where new features are needed. The written scope makes clear which applies to you.

In detail

Website Redesign in Botswana, in detail.

01

An audit before any new design

We review your current site's analytics, search performance, content, plugins and forms. That tells us which pages bring visitors, which are ignored and which break. The result is a short written report with recommendations, so the redesign is based on evidence rather than a feeling that the site looks dated. It also lists plugins that are outdated or unsupported, which often explains why the current site feels fragile. You keep the report whether or not you go ahead with us.

02

Protecting your search rankings

The biggest risk in a redesign is losing search traffic by changing page addresses carelessly. We map every important existing URL to its new home and set permanent redirects, keep titles and headings that perform well, and resubmit the sitemap after launch. We then watch Search Console for errors in the weeks that follow. Images, PDFs and old campaign pages that still attract links get redirects too, not just the main pages.

03

Same domain, cleaner structure

We rebuild on your current .co.bw or other domain so you keep its history and recognition. Navigation is simplified around what visitors actually look for, and content is moved into reusable WordPress blocks that your staff can update without calling a developer. Old pages that duplicate each other are merged, so visitors and search engines find one clear answer instead of three partial ones. We also check that the domain's registration details point to your organisation, which older sites sometimes get wrong.

04

Updating forms for the 2024 Act

Older sites often collect more personal data than they need or send form submissions to shared inboxes. A redesign is a good moment to fix that. Under the Data Protection Act No. 18 of 2024, breaches must be reported to the Information and Data Protection Commission without delay. We trim forms, add consent wording and restrict who sees submissions, which reduces the risk in the first place.

05

Adding payments if you need them

If the new site should take payments for fees, products or donations, we plan the provider early. DPO Pay by Network covers cards for Botswana merchants, and Orange Money's web payment API is available to registered Orange Money merchants. Building payments into the redesign is cheaper than bolting them on later. Merchant approval can take time, so we suggest applying while design is under way.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will we lose our Google rankings?

Any redesign carries some risk, but careful redirects and preserved content keep it low. We map existing URLs, retain what performs well and monitor Search Console after launch so we can fix problems quickly if any appear. Most sites see search traffic settle within weeks.

Can you redesign a site that is not on WordPress?

Yes. We move the content into WordPress as part of the project and set redirects from old addresses. That is partly a migration, so the scope reflects both parts of the work. Content stored in unusual formats may need manual work, which we identify during the audit.

Do we keep our current content?

Whatever is useful, yes. The audit identifies pages worth keeping, editing or retiring. We move the content you want into the new structure and can help tidy it if needed. Retired pages are redirected to the closest relevant replacement so their links keep working.

Can the site stay live during the redesign?

Yes. We build on a staging site while your current site keeps running. On launch day we switch over at a quiet hour on Botswana time and check everything works before announcing it. The old site stays available until you confirm the new one.

How long does a redesign take?

It depends on the number of page types, the content and any new features. The timeline is set in the written scope after the audit, so it reflects your actual site. Content readiness on your side is usually the largest factor, so we agree deadlines for both teams.
