Web development in Botswana

WordPress web development for Botswana organisations

We build the functional side of websites: custom themes, plugins, stores, portals and integrations. Our team writes code to WordPress standards so your site stays maintainable after we hand it over.

Overview

Web Development for organisations in Botswana.

A web development company in Botswana is often asked to do everything from a simple brochure site to a bespoke booking system. We concentrate on WordPress because it lets us deliver serious functionality on a platform your staff already find familiar, without locking you into one supplier.

Development projects start from $5,000 and are scoped in writing. That figure covers work where something has to be built rather than configured: a custom plugin, a payment integration, a member area or a dashboard.

In detail

Web Development in Botswana, in detail.

01

Custom themes and plugins

Off-the-shelf themes carry code you do not need and often hide limits you only find later. We build lean custom themes based on your design, and write plugins for logic that is specific to your organisation, such as an application process, a membership tier or a reporting view. The code is documented and stored in version control, and it belongs to you.

02

Payment integrations for Botswana

Payment work in Botswana usually involves one of a small set of providers. DPO Pay by Network supports card payments for local merchants, with Stanbic Bank as acquirer. Orange Money's web payment API is open to registered Orange Money merchants. We connect these to WooCommerce or custom forms, handle the confirmation step so orders only complete when payment does, and test failure cases, not just successful payments.

03

Integrations with tools you already use

Many organisations already run accounting software, a CRM or a mailing tool. We connect WordPress to them so data flows without retyping, for example sending new enquiries to a CRM or syncing members with a mailing list. Where personal data moves between systems, we document what goes where, which helps you account for how data is handled under the Data Protection Act No. 18 of 2024.

04

Learning, membership and portals

WordPress can run online courses, member directories and staff portals well if they are built carefully. We set up roles and permissions, protect private content, and design dashboards around what each user needs to see. Our team has built a virtual learning environment, an online school with payments in four currencies and a recruitment portal. Each of those had to stay usable for people with little technical confidence, which shapes how we design screens and messages.

05

How a development project runs

After the written scope is approved, we break the work into stages with a staging site you can test at each one. Our working hours overlap almost completely with yours, since Gaborone is one hour ahead of Lagos. We agree acceptance criteria up front, so signing off a stage means checking agreed behaviour rather than debating taste. Changes requested mid-project are written into the scope with their effect on time and cost, so nothing grows silently.

Platforms we have built.

Development work our team has delivered includes a recruitment portal with an HR dashboard and an online school that takes payments in four currencies, both of which needed custom logic beyond standard plugins.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do we own the code you write?

Yes. Custom themes and plugins we build for you are yours, stored in a repository you can access. Third-party plugins remain under their own licences, which we list in your handover notes so you know what renews and when.

Can you integrate Orange Money with our site?

Orange lists Botswana for its web payment API, available to registered Orange Money merchants who subscribe at an Orange store. Once your organisation has that agreement, we can integrate it with your checkout and test it end to end. We cannot open the merchant account for you, but we can help prepare the technical details.

Is WordPress suitable for complex projects?

For many, yes. With custom plugins, WordPress handles payments, memberships, portals and integrations reliably. If your project would be better served by another platform, we say so during scoping rather than forcing it into WordPress. We would rather lose a project than build something that fights the platform.

How do you handle testing?

Every feature is tested on a staging site before release, including failure paths such as a declined card or an abandoned payment. We test on mobile and desktop and ask you to confirm each stage against the acceptance criteria in the scope.

What if something breaks after launch?

We fix defects in work we delivered as agreed in the scope. For ongoing care, our managed services start from $2,000 a year and cover updates, monitoring and support, which matters most for sites with payments or user accounts.
