Maintenance in Botswana

WordPress website maintenance for Botswana organisations

We keep WordPress sites updated, backed up, secure and fast, so your team can focus on content rather than the platform underneath. Support runs during hours that match Botswana's working day.

Overview

Website Maintenance for organisations in Botswana.

Website maintenance in Botswana is often treated as optional until something breaks: a plugin conflict takes the site down, a payment stops working, or a hacked page appears in search results. Regular care prevents most of that and makes the rest quicker to fix.

Maintenance is part of our managed services, which start from $2,000 per year and include hosting through our partners. The plan is scoped in writing so you know exactly what is covered.

In detail

Website Maintenance in Botswana, in detail.

01

Updates done safely

WordPress core, themes and plugins release updates frequently, some fixing security flaws. We apply them on a schedule, test on a staging copy first where the site is complex, and keep a backup ready before each change. If an update causes a problem, we roll it back and work out a fix rather than leaving the site broken. Each update is logged, so you can see what changed and when if anyone asks.

02

Keeping payments working

Payment plugins deserve particular attention. Gateways such as DPO Pay change their requirements over time, and an outdated plugin can quietly stop orders completing. We monitor payment flows, update gateway plugins carefully and run test transactions after changes. If you accept Orange Money through its web payment API, we watch that integration with the same care. A failed payment is often reported by a customer long after it started, so automated checks catch it sooner.

03

Breach readiness under the 2024 Act

Botswana's Data Protection Act No. 18 of 2024 requires a personal data breach to be reported to the Information and Data Protection Commission without delay, where feasible within 72 hours. That deadline is hard to meet if nobody notices the breach. We monitor for malware, suspicious logins and file changes, keep access logs, and will tell you promptly if something looks wrong so your organisation can decide on notification.

04

Backups you can rely on

We take regular backups stored separately from the server, and we test restoring them, because an untested backup is only a hope. If the worst happens, we can bring the site back to a recent point and explain what was lost, if anything. Copies are kept for a rolling period agreed in the scope, so a problem noticed late can still be undone. For stores and portals, we schedule backups more often, because a day of lost orders or applications is costly.

05

Support across a one-hour gap

Gaborone runs one hour ahead of Lagos on Central Africa Time, so when you report an issue during your working day, our team is working too. Requests go to people who know your site, not a generic queue. Small content changes and fixes are handled within the plan as agreed in your scope. Larger requests, such as a new page template, are quoted separately so the plan stays predictable.

Platforms we have built.

Our team built the Alvina Schools learning environment and the BFI School platform, the kind of sites where an update must never interrupt classes or payments.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you maintain a site another company built?

Yes. We start with an audit of the site, its plugins and its hosting, and tell you about any risks we find. Some sites need cleanup before regular maintenance makes sense, and we will say so in writing before you commit.

Do we have to host with you?

Our managed services include hosting through Cloudways or Hostinger, which lets us control the environment and respond quickly. If you have a strong reason to stay with your current host, we discuss what we can and cannot support during scoping.

What happens if our site is hacked?

We isolate the problem, clean the site, close the hole that was used and restore from a clean backup if needed. We also give you a written account of what happened, which helps your organisation decide whether to notify the Commission under the 2024 Act.

How quickly do you respond?

Response times are set out in your written scope. Because our hours overlap closely with Botswana's, urgent issues raised during your working day reach someone who is working at the same time. Urgent problems, such as a site that is down or a checkout that fails, are treated ahead of routine changes.

Is maintenance worth it for a small brochure site?

A small site still runs WordPress and plugins that need updates. The risk is lower than for a store, but an unpatched site can be hacked and used to send spam under your name. We size the plan to the site.
