Website redesign, Malawi

Redesign your Malawian website without losing what already works

A redesign should fix what is holding your site back while keeping the search rankings, links and content that still earn their place. We audit first, then rebuild on WordPress on your existing domain.

Overview

Website Redesign for organisations in Malawi.

Organisations in Malawi often come to a redesign for practical reasons: the site looks dated on phones, nobody can update it, the shop never took mobile money, or the builder has moved on. Those are good reasons. The mistake is to throw everything away and start again, losing pages that people still find on Google and links that partners have shared for years.

We treat a redesign as renovation, not demolition. Our team has redesigned corporate sites such as Verbatim and WL Construction, keeping their substance while modernising design and structure. For a Malawian site we add the local specifics: PayChangu payments, privacy work for the Data Protection Act 2024 and a phone-first layout.

In detail

Website Redesign in Malawi, in detail.

01

Start with an audit

Before changing anything, we look at what your current site does. Which pages bring visitors from search, which forms generate enquiries, which downloads people actually use, and where visitors give up. We review the content, the plugins and the hosting. The audit becomes a short report that tells you what to keep, what to rewrite and what to drop, so the redesign is grounded in evidence rather than taste.

02

Keeping your search traffic

Every page that moves needs a redirect from its old address to its new one, or the visitors and search standing it has built disappear. We map every old URL, write the redirects, keep page titles and descriptions where they work and submit the new sitemap to Google Search Console. Your .co.mw, .org.mw or .com domain stays exactly as it is, so the authority it carries is preserved.

03

Fixing payments properly

A common reason Malawian organisations redesign is a checkout or donation form that never worked well, often because it was built for a payment platform that does not serve Malawi. We rebuild payments on PayChangu, which supports Airtel Money, TNM Mpamba, cards and bank transfer, and test every route on staging. Existing order and donor records are carried across so your history is not lost.

04

Bringing privacy up to date

Many older sites were built before the Data Protection Act 2024. They collect more than they need, lack a privacy notice or send form data to services nobody remembers setting up. A redesign is the right moment to fix that. We trim forms, add consent wording, document where data goes and remove old entries you no longer need, giving you a cleaner position if MACRA registration applies to you.

05

A careful switchover

The new site is built on a staging copy while your current one stays live. When you have signed it off, we schedule the switch at a quiet time in Central Africa Time, apply the redirects, test forms, payments and email, and monitor search and error reports over the following weeks. If anything has been missed, we catch it early.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will a redesign hurt our Google rankings?

It can if it is done carelessly, which is why we redirect every moved page, keep strong titles and content, and monitor Search Console after launch. Done properly, a redesign usually improves search performance because the new site is faster and better structured. We cannot guarantee rankings, but we can protect what you already have.

What does a redesign cost?

Redesign falls within Strategy and Design, from $1,500 per project. If the redesign also needs new functionality, such as a shop or portal, development work starting from $5,000 may apply. We confirm the exact figure in a written scope with a fixed USD price.

Can we keep our current hosting?

Yes, if it is reliable and supports a modern WordPress setup. We check it during the audit. If it is slow or outdated, we will explain why and offer managed hosting through Cloudways or Hostinger, but the decision is yours.

Our site is not on WordPress. Can you still redesign it?

Yes. We rebuild it on WordPress and move the content across, preserving addresses or redirecting them. Moving from another system needs extra planning for content and data, and we include that in the scope so the cost is clear from the start.

How long does a redesign take?

That depends on the size of the site and how much content changes. A small organisational site moves quickly; a large site with a shop or many document libraries takes longer. The timeline is set out in your scope, and we share a working day with you, so review rounds keep moving.
