Maintenance, Malawi

WordPress maintenance for websites in Malawi

We keep WordPress sites updated, backed up, secure and working, so your team can focus on its own work. For Malawian sites that includes watching payment plugins and keeping privacy housekeeping in step with the Data Protection Act 2024.

Overview

Website Maintenance for organisations in Malawi.

Many Malawian organisations launch a good website and then lose the person who built it. Two years later the plugins are out of date, the contact form has silently stopped sending and nobody has the hosting login. Maintenance prevents that slow decline, and it is far cheaper than rebuilding a compromised site.

We work from Nigeria, one hour behind Malawi, so we are online for nearly your whole working day. Maintenance sits within our Managed Services, which start from $2,000 per year and can also include hosting, performance work and SEO.

In detail

Website Maintenance in Malawi, in detail.

01

Updates applied with care

WordPress core, themes and plugins all release updates, many of them security fixes. We test updates on a staging copy before applying them to your live site, so a broken plugin is caught before visitors see it. Every update is logged, and if something does go wrong we roll back from a backup. Abandoned plugins are flagged and replaced with maintained alternatives before they become a risk.

02

Keeping payments working

A shop or donation page that cannot take money is worse than one that is offline, because customers try and fail. We monitor checkouts built on PayChangu, keep its WooCommerce or GiveWP plugin current and run test transactions after significant updates. When the provider changes its requirements, we make the adjustment, so Airtel Money, TNM Mpamba and card payments keep reaching your account.

03

Privacy housekeeping under the 2024 Act

The Data Protection Act 2024 is still bedding in, and MACRA is setting out how registration works for larger data controllers. We keep your privacy notice and consent wording current when your site changes, clear out old form entries according to your retention policy, review admin accounts and remove those of departed staff. If a security incident occurs, we help you gather the facts your data protection lead needs to report it promptly.

04

Backups, security and uptime

We take automated daily backups stored away from your server, test that they restore, and keep a firewall and malware scanning in place. Uptime monitoring alerts us when the site goes down, often before you notice. Login protection, strong passwords and two-factor authentication for administrators close the most common routes attackers use against WordPress. Every alert and fix is recorded, so you can see how the site has been protected over the year.

05

Small changes without the queue

Maintenance also covers the small jobs that otherwise wait for months: a new staff photo, an updated fee table, a fresh vacancy page or a banner for an event. You send requests by email, we confirm and complete them within the agreed time, and a monthly report shows what was done, what was updated and anything we recommend. Anything larger than a small change is quoted separately before we start.

Our work

Platforms we have built.

Our team looks after platforms where downtime has real cost, such as an online school taking payments in four currencies and a recruitment portal with an HR dashboard.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does website maintenance cost?

Maintenance is part of our Managed Services, which start from $2,000 per year. The scope depends on the size of the site, whether it takes payments, and whether hosting and SEO are included. We agree it in writing with a fixed USD price, so the annual cost is known in advance.

Can you take over a site someone else built?

Yes. We start with an audit of the site, hosting, plugins and access, and tell you plainly what condition it is in. If anything urgent turns up, such as an outdated plugin with a known vulnerability, we fix it first. Then the site moves onto our regular maintenance routine.

What happens if our site is hacked?

We isolate the problem, restore a clean backup, close the hole that was used and change the affected credentials. We also give you a written account of what happened, which your data protection lead can use when deciding whether the incident must be reported to MACRA.

When are you available for urgent issues?

Our working day overlaps almost completely with Malawi's because there is only one hour between us. Response times for urgent and routine requests are written into your plan. Uptime monitoring runs continuously, so outages are flagged even outside office hours.

Do we have to host with you?

No. We can maintain sites on your existing hosting if it is reliable and we have the access we need. Many clients choose our managed hosting through Cloudways or Hostinger so that hosting and maintenance sit with one team, but that is your choice.
