WordPress web development for Canadian organisations

We build custom WordPress themes, plugins and integrations for organisations across Canada. The code is documented, the data handling respects PIPEDA, and you own everything once it is paid for.

Overview

Web Development for organisations in Canada.

Web development is where a website stops being a set of pages and starts doing work: taking payments, syncing with a CRM, managing members or feeding data to other systems. That is also where weak builds cause the most trouble, because shortcuts show up later as security holes, slow pages and plugins nobody dares update.

We develop on WordPress because it lets Canadian organisations keep control of their content and data while still building serious functionality. Our team is based in Nigeria and works remotely, with Eastern Time mornings overlapping our afternoons for calls and reviews.

In detail

Web Development in Canada, in detail.

01

Custom themes and plugins

We write themes around your design and content model rather than bending a heavy commercial theme into shape. Where you need features no off-the-shelf plugin handles well, we build custom plugins with clear settings, sensible permissions and documentation. Code goes into version control, follows WordPress coding standards and is reviewed before release. The aim is a site another competent developer could pick up without guesswork.

02

Integrations with Canadian payment and business tools

Many Canadian sites need to talk to other systems. We connect WordPress to payment gateways such as Stripe, PayPal and Moneris, to CRMs and email platforms, to booking and accounting tools, and to custom APIs. For recurring payments from Canadian bank accounts, Stripe's pre-authorised debit can work well, provided the customer mandate is captured properly. We document each integration, including what data passes where and why.

03

Handling personal data the PIPEDA way

Development choices decide how personal information is stored and who can see it. We collect only what a feature needs, restrict access by role, encrypt connections, and avoid copying data into places it does not need to be. If a breach ever occurs, PIPEDA expects you to assess the risk, report to the OPC where it is significant, and keep records for 24 months, so we make sure logs and access records support that. Quebec projects also get Law 25 settings applied.

04

Performance and accessibility in the build

Fast pages matter for visitors on rural connections and mobile data as much as for search. We keep front-end code lean, load scripts only where they are used, optimise images and cache sensibly. Components are coded to WCAG 2.1 AA, with proper semantics, keyboard support and labelled controls, which covers the WCAG 2.0 AA level the AODA sets for larger Ontario organisations.

05

Pricing and ownership

Development starts from $5,000 per project in US dollars, scoped in writing with milestone payments. We can give a Canadian dollar reference figure on request. You own the code once paid, and any domains are registered in your organisation's name. If you would like us to host and maintain the result, we do that for platforms we build, as we do for BFI School and Technext.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why WordPress rather than a custom framework?

WordPress gives you a mature editor, a large talent pool and full control over your data, while still allowing serious custom development. For most Canadian organisations it is the more sustainable choice. Where a project genuinely needs something else, we will say so during scoping.

Can you integrate Moneris or Stripe?

Yes. Moneris offers a WooCommerce gateway for Canadian merchants, and Stripe supports cards, wallets and pre-authorised debit for Canadian businesses. We set up whichever suits your bank, fees and customers, test it properly and document the configuration. Fees and settlement times differ, so we compare them first.

Where is our data stored?

That depends on the hosting we agree. Our partner Cloudways offers Canadian data centres, including Toronto and Montreal. Where law or policy requires local storage, the hosting choice is agreed with you and your legal adviser before the build. Hostinger has no Canadian location, so it suits only projects where US hosting is acceptable.

Do we get the source code?

Yes. You own the code once it is paid for, and we hand over repository access and documentation. You are free to host it anywhere or work with another developer in future. We also hand over credentials for every service the site uses, all held in your organisation's name.

How do you work across time zones?

Lagos is five to six hours ahead of Eastern Time. We schedule calls in your morning, share progress on a project board and in written updates, and deploy changes during your quieter hours. Most decisions are captured in writing so nobody waits on a meeting.
