Overview

Ecommerce Websites for organisations in Canada.

Selling online in Canada brings a few things you cannot ignore. Tax depends on where the order goes. Quebec shoppers are entitled to a French storefront. Payment habits mix cards, PayPal and bank transfers. A store that handles these well feels local; one that does not loses sales at checkout.

WooCommerce lets you run a full store on your own WordPress site, without handing a percentage of every sale to a platform. We design, build and connect it, then stay on to maintain it if you would like.

In detail

Ecommerce Websites in Canada, in detail.

01

Checkout options Canadian shoppers use

We set up the gateways that suit your business and customers. Moneris offers a WooCommerce gateway for Canadian merchants, taking the major card brands in Canadian dollars. Stripe covers cards and digital wallets, and its pre-authorised debit suits subscriptions paid from Canadian bank accounts. PayPal adds PayPal balances and Pay Later. WooPayments is available in Canada too. Interac Online has been retired, so for bank-to-bank payments we look at Interac e-Transfer requests through your bank or a provider that embeds them in checkout.

02

Province-aware tax

The GST/HST you charge depends on the place of supply, so a sale delivered to Ontario carries 13% HST while a Manitoba order is charged 5% GST plus provincial sales tax. We configure WooCommerce tax tables by province or connect an automated tax service, show tax clearly in the cart, and make invoices and receipts readable. Your accountant confirms the rules for your business; we make sure the store applies them consistently.

03

A French storefront for Quebec

If you offer products to Quebec consumers, product information, order forms, invoices and policies should be available in French. We build multilingual product catalogues, translated checkout steps and French transactional emails, using content you or your translator provide or approve. Shoppers can switch language without losing their cart. Order confirmation pages, account areas and abandoned-cart reminders are translated too, so the French experience does not stop halfway through the purchase.

04

Customer data and marketing consent

A store collects names, addresses and order histories, so PIPEDA's consent and safeguarding duties apply. We limit what checkout asks for, protect customer accounts, and keep marketing consent as a separate opt-in so your email list meets CASL, which requires consent and an unsubscribe that is honoured within 10 business days. For Quebec, tracking pixels stay off until shoppers agree.

05

Shipping, performance and cost

We configure shipping zones and rates for Canadian distances, connect carrier tools where you use them, and keep product pages fast on mobile. Ecommerce builds fall under Development, which starts from $5,000 in US dollars, scoped in writing with milestones. Payment processing fees are set by your gateway, and we explain each option's fee structure before you choose. Seasonal peaks, such as holiday sales, are load-tested before they arrive.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which payment gateway should a Canadian store use?

It depends on your bank, fees and customers. Moneris suits merchants who already bank with it, Stripe is flexible for cards, wallets and pre-authorised debit, and PayPal adds a familiar option at checkout. Many stores offer two. We compare them against your sales pattern before setting anything up.

Can customers pay by Interac?

Interac Online has been retired. Interac e-Transfer still works, and some Canadian banks and payment providers let businesses send payment requests or embed them in checkout. Availability and limits vary by institution, so we confirm what your bank or provider supports before building it in.

How do you handle GST, HST and PST?

We set WooCommerce to charge tax by the province or territory where the order is supplied, or connect an automated tax service. Your accountant confirms registration and rates for your business; we make sure the store applies them correctly and shows them clearly.

What does an ecommerce website cost in Canada?

Our Development work starts from $5,000 in US dollars. The final figure depends on product count, integrations, languages and custom features, and is confirmed in a written scope. Running costs include hosting, domain, payment processing fees and any paid extensions.

Can you move our store from another platform?

Usually, yes. Products, customers and order history can often be migrated where the source platform allows export. We plan redirects so search traffic follows, and explain anything that cannot move, such as saved card details, before we start. Search traffic is protected with redirects.
