E-learning platforms for Canadian organisations, on WordPress

We build online learning platforms on WordPress with courses, quizzes, certificates and payments. You own the platform and the learner data, instead of renting space on someone else's.

Overview

E-learning Platforms for organisations in Canada.

Canadian training providers, professional associations and online schools often start on a hosted course platform, then hit its limits: fees on every sale, little control over branding, and learner data held elsewhere. A WordPress learning platform puts those back in your hands.

We have built learning platforms for schools and businesses, including the BFI School platform for BFI Insights LLC in the USA, which we also host and maintain.

In detail

E-learning Platforms in Canada, in detail.

01

Courses, quizzes and certificates

We set up a learning management system on WordPress with structured courses, lessons, drip schedules, quizzes and assignments. Learners see their progress, and certificates are issued automatically on completion. For professional bodies tracking continuing education, we can record hours or credits per course and give administrators reports they can export. Instructors can manage their own courses through a restricted role, without access to payments or other learners' records.

02

Selling courses in Canada

Course sales can run through Stripe, PayPal or Moneris, priced in Canadian dollars or several currencies. Subscriptions and instalment plans work well with Stripe, including pre-authorised debit from Canadian bank accounts. Tax on digital courses depends on the learner's province, so we configure the store accordingly and leave the rules for your accountant to confirm. Affiliate programmes and coupon codes can be added to support marketing.

03

English and French learning

Canadian learners may expect courses in either official language, and Quebec consumers are entitled to French information about what they buy. We build bilingual course catalogues, enrolment flows and learner dashboards, and load French lessons you or your translators provide. Learners choose their language once and the platform remembers it. Certificates can be issued in the learner's chosen language as well.

04

Accessible, private learning

Course content must work for every learner. We build to WCAG 2.1 AA, add captions and transcript support for video, and make quizzes keyboard-friendly. Learner data, including progress and results, is personal information under PIPEDA, so we restrict access, keep collection lean and agree hosting location with you, including Canadian data centres when needed. Learners can request a copy of their records, which Quebec's portability rules now expect.

05

Cost and ownership

Learning platforms fall under Development, which starts from $5,000 per project in US dollars, scoped in writing with milestones. Hosting and maintenance are available through Managed Services from $2,000 per year. Your organisation owns the code and learner data, and the domain is registered in your name. Milestone payments mean you pay as each part of the platform is delivered and approved.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why build on WordPress instead of a hosted course platform?

You avoid per-sale platform fees, control your branding and keep learner data on infrastructure you choose. You also own the platform outright, so you can extend it as your programmes grow. Many organisations also find a WordPress platform easier to connect to their existing website, membership records and email tools, which keeps learners in one place.

Can learners pay in Canadian dollars?

Yes. We set prices in Canadian dollars or several currencies, and connect Stripe, PayPal or Moneris. Subscriptions and instalment plans are supported. Learners receive receipts automatically, and coupon codes or group pricing for employers can be added when you need them.

Can courses be offered in English and French?

Yes. We build a bilingual platform and load French content you or your translators provide. Learners pick their language and the platform keeps it across their account. We do not write French lessons ourselves, but we check that every part of the learner journey, from enrolment to certificate, works properly in both languages.

Can you issue certificates or track continuing education credits?

Yes. Certificates are generated on completion, and we can record hours or credits per course with reports for administrators. Certificates carry your branding, the learner's name and the completion date, and can include a verification code that employers or regulators can check.

What does an e-learning platform cost?

Development starts from $5,000 in US dollars. The final price depends on the number of courses, payment needs, integrations and languages, and is confirmed in a written scope. Hosting and maintenance are available through Managed Services from $2,000 per year, and a Canadian dollar reference figure is available on request.

Is learner data protected under Canadian privacy law?

Learner names, progress and results are personal information under PIPEDA, and under provincial law in Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia where it applies. We restrict access by role, collect only what courses need and agree the hosting location with you, including Canadian data centres. For Quebec learners, we publish your privacy officer's details and keep tracking off by default.
