Professional business email on your Ethiopian domain

Email from your own domain looks credible and keeps company records under company control. We set up Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or Zoho on your .et or .com.et domain, configured so messages reach inboxes.

Overview

Business Email for organisations in Ethiopia.

Many Ethiopian businesses still run on personal email addresses, which makes records hard to manage when staff change and can make messages look untrustworthy to customers and partners.

Moving to business email is straightforward when done carefully. We set up the service, configure the security records that prove your messages are genuine and make sure your website's own emails, such as form notifications and receipts, arrive reliably.

In detail

Business Email in Ethiopia, in detail.

01

Choosing the right email platform

Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Zoho Mail all offer email on your own domain with calendars and shared storage. The right choice depends on the tools your team already uses, budget per user and how you collaborate on documents. We set out the options plainly and leave the decision with you. Your subscription is in your organisation's name, billed by the provider.

02

SPF, DKIM and DMARC on a .et domain

Ethio Telecom is the registry for .et domains, and many organisations manage DNS through its portal or through a separate DNS host. We add SPF to state which servers may send for you, DKIM to sign messages, and DMARC to tell receiving servers how to treat failures. Together they reduce spoofing and help your messages avoid spam folders, which matters for invoices and proposals sent to international partners.

03

Website email that actually arrives

WordPress sends contact form notifications, order receipts and password resets. By default these often fail or land in spam. We route website email through an authenticated sending service, align it with your domain records and test each message type. For a store taking telebirr or CBE Birr payments, that means customers reliably receive the confirmation they expect. We also set up alerts so failed messages are noticed rather than silently lost.

04

Email, personal data and the proclamation

Email accounts hold customer and staff information, so they fall within Ethiopia's Personal Data Protection Proclamation. Two-factor authentication, sensible sharing settings and removing access when staff leave all reduce breach risk, and a breach must be reported to the Ethiopian Communications Authority within 72 hours. We configure these safeguards and note where the provider stores data, so your adviser can consider it against Article 22.

05

Moving from personal or old accounts

If your team currently uses personal addresses or an old host, we plan the move so no messages are lost: creating accounts, migrating mail where possible and switching records at a quiet time in East Africa Time. Domain and email setup is part of our Managed Services, from $2,000 per year. We also help you set up shared addresses, such as info@ or accounts@, so customer messages reach the right people even when staff change.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can we use our .com.et domain for email?

Yes. Any domain you control can be used with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or Zoho. We add the required records in your DNS, whether managed through Ethio Telecom's portal or another DNS provider, and test sending and receiving before your team switches over.

Why do our emails go to spam?

Usually because the domain lacks SPF, DKIM or DMARC records, or because the website sends mail from an unauthenticated server. We review your current setup, fix the records and route website mail through a proper sending service, then test delivery to common inbox providers.

Do you charge for email accounts?

The email provider charges per user directly, under your organisation's subscription. Our work covers setup, security records, website email and ongoing support, included in Managed Services from $2,000 per year. The provider's pricing is shown in your proposal so you can budget for the number of users you need.

Can you move our old emails?

In most cases, yes. Google, Microsoft and Zoho provide migration tools for importing existing mailboxes. We plan the move with you, migrate what is possible and switch records at a quiet time so incoming mail is not lost. Contacts and calendars can usually be moved as well.

Where is our email data stored?

Each provider stores data in its own data centres, and those locations need checking against Ethiopian law. Because the proclamation includes data sovereignty rules, we note the storage arrangements of the provider you choose so your legal adviser can confirm it suits your organisation.
