Website design, South Africa

Website design in South Africa, built on WordPress

We design WordPress websites that South African visitors trust and act on. Every layout accounts for local payment habits, the legal details a .co.za site must show and the phones most people browse on.

Overview

Website Design for organisations in South Africa.

Search for website design in South Africa and you will find hundreds of packages promising a site in a week. Packages can work for a simple brochure site, but they tend to skip the parts that make a South African site convincing: prices shown clearly in rand, delivery and returns terms that customers can find, and a privacy notice that matches what the forms really collect.

Our design process begins with your customers rather than a template. We look at who visits, what they need to decide, and which action matters most, then design the pages around that. You review real layouts on a staging site, not static mock-ups that change when they meet content.

In detail

Website Design in South Africa, in detail.

01

Designing for trust on a .co.za site

South African buyers are used to checking who is behind a website before they pay. The ECT Act expects online sellers to show their registered name, registration number, physical address and contact details, alongside full prices and a returns policy. We treat these as design elements rather than small print, placing them where hesitant visitors look: the footer, product pages, the cart and the contact page. The result reads as an established business, not an anonymous shop.

02

Prices and payment cues in rand

If you sell or take bookings, visitors want to see the price in rand and know how they can pay before they commit. We design product and pricing blocks that show ZAR clearly, include delivery and VAT where relevant, and display the payment options your gateway actually supports, such as card, Instant EFT or Capitec Pay. Showing familiar options early reduces the drop-off that happens when a buyer reaches checkout and cannot find their bank.

03

Mobile-first by default

Many South African visitors arrive on a phone, often on mobile data they are paying for themselves. We design small screens first, keep page weight low, compress images properly and avoid heavy animation that adds cost without adding meaning. Navigation, forms and calls to action are sized for thumbs. We then expand the layout for tablets and desktops rather than squeezing a desktop design down.

04

Forms that respect POPIA

Every form on a website is a point where personal information enters your business. We design forms that ask only for what you will use, explain why you need it, and separate newsletter or WhatsApp opt-ins from enquiry consent, which matches how the Information Regulator reads POPIA's direct marketing rules. Clear forms also convert better, so this is good design as well as good compliance.

05

From discovery to launch

We start with a discovery session, then agree a sitemap, content plan and written scope. Design moves through wireframes into full layouts on WordPress, where your team can click through and comment. Once you approve, we connect forms, analytics and any integrations, run accessibility and speed checks, and launch. Strategy and design projects start from $1,500, and redesigns of existing sites follow the same process.

Our work

Platforms we have built.

These projects show our design work on platforms where clarity mattered: an online school taking payments in several currencies, and a virtual learning environment used daily by pupils and staff.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell fixed website design packages?

We do not sell off-the-shelf packages. Every project is scoped in writing after a discovery conversation, so you pay for the pages and features you actually need. Strategy and design work starts from $1,500 per project, and we will tell you early if a simpler or cheaper route would serve you better.

Can you redesign our existing South African website?

Yes. We review your current site, analytics and search rankings first, then redesign while protecting the pages and URLs that already bring traffic. If you are moving from another platform to WordPress, we plan redirects and content migration as part of the project so you do not lose visibility.

Will the design show prices in rand?

Yes, where your site shows prices. The main South African gateways expect a ZAR store currency, so we design pricing, cart and checkout around rand by default. If you also sell abroad, we discuss how to handle other currencies before design starts.

How do we review designs from South Africa?

You review on a private staging website, so you see real pages on your own phone and laptop. Comments go into a shared board, and because Johannesburg is only one hour ahead of Lagos we can walk through feedback on a call during your normal working day.

Do you write the website content?

We can plan the content structure, write page copy with you, and set up SEO basics for each page. Many clients write first drafts themselves and we edit them for clarity and search. Either way, we agree who owns content in the written scope.
