Senior WordPress Engineer

Full-time Remote (Africa / UK)

You'll lead the engineering of platforms that handle real users, real transactions, and real workloads. Not brochure sites — systems people depend on. You'll own architecture decisions, set the bar on code quality, and work closely with design and strategy from day one.

01

What you'll do

  • Architect and build custom WordPress platforms — LMS, membership, eCommerce, editorial.
  • Write custom plugins and themes from scratch — no page builders, no bloat.
  • Own performance, security, and reliability across the platforms you ship.
  • Pair with designers early so what gets built is actually what was designed.
  • Mentor newer engineers and shape how we build going forward.
02

Who you are

  • 4+ years building production WordPress at platform scale (not just sites).
  • Strong PHP, MySQL, and modern JavaScript. Comfortable in the WP REST API and block editor internals.
  • You think in systems — data models, caching, queues, edge cases.
  • You write clean, readable code and care about the person who reads it next.
03

Nice to have

  • Experience with LearnDash, MemberPress, WooCommerce at scale.
  • DevOps comfort — Cloudways, server tuning, CI/CD.
  • Past work as a tech lead or solo platform owner.

Happy to do a paid test project whenever it suits your team.

Thanks,
